Although the tourist season was over, the fall beauty and relative quietness of both North and South Lake Tahoe is hard to forget. Temperatures were very comfortable in the day time, and all of the shopping and most of the attractions seem to continue. A nice ride away from Reno or Carson City, NV as well.
we love this place. it has a lot of activities for winter and summer. we usually go here for ski in winter, but we also visit here for summer activities. the best thing we like to do here is to rent a boat and cruise around the lake. wonderful experience. I highly recommend the boat rental. the price may be a bit steep though.
Whether it's swimming in the clean lake water, hiking to hidden lakes or waterfalls or riding bikes through the trees my trip to south Tahoe was great!! Recommend Applebee's for salads and atmosphere and Sand Harbor for swimming.
Great for strolling along the lake or just laying on the beach. Go to the Hyatt dock and enjoy a drink.
We could not have asked for a nicer day, to sight see. The lake was like glass, the beach was deserted, and there was no wind. Took some nice pictures as we went around most of the entire lake. The vista points were very crowded, as it was MLK weekend. No snow, but my knee was not up to it anyway. Way too dry with severe fire danger possible now year round.
Fun place e to sit and enjoy the beauty of the lake as well as hike, picnic, or enjoy lake sports like paddle boarding, boating, and parasailing. This is an exquisite place to get the privilege to visit and would really enjoy a return visit.
We enjoyed a leisurely drive around Lake Tahoe today stopping at lots of the viewing points and some of the towns. What stunning scenery!!!! It is late in the season at the moment but I can imagine the beautiful lake filled with sailing boats. The water is magnificent - in some places you can see three distinct colour stages ranging from a very light blue through to a very deep blue - quite delightful. We will return to this beautiful area to enjoy a different season.
This is a beautiful place. The paths are paved. lots of parking and simply serene and breathtaking scenery. We absolutely loved out visit. recommend bringing a bike or renting one from Shoreline rental company nearby on Kahle street. We wish we discovered this sooner during out stay as we would have visited more often.
Stunning views, amazing beaches (Sand Harbour), beautiful crystal clear blue water. End of Augusts was a great time as few holiday makers, kids back at school etc - but still great weather.
Sand Harbor on a hot summer day, there is no other place to be. The sand reminds you of a Hawaiian beach and so does the Sun. It's a busy place so you will want to go there during an earlier day in the week if you're going to go there after 11 am. otherwise you need to be there before 10 am to get into the Park. The area of a rocks to the north of the beach is a good place to enter the water when snorkeling. The water is cool to warm and a 5 mm wet suit is a good idea. The water is very clear and visibility under water is about 50 ft.Great place to snorkel, swim, relax on the beach, and to hike on the trails.
