unable to recommend this place at all. Nothing more than a public pool with filthy change rooms smelling of urine and about a million flying gnats in every one plus out by the pool. Had people swigging on beers in glass bottles inside the pool. Very disappointing place and wish we had skipped it. Pretty much the lowlight of our 23 day trip around Nica.
This place is beautiful its about 80 cordoba for entry and the food and drinks there are about double anywhere else. The pools have a rope swing and tightrope and a little pool for kids
We arrived at 9.30 and had the place to ourselves but 45 mins later lots of tourists came and it lost its charm a little. However it is worth the visit. Basically a big naturally pumped swimming pool to relax and swim by.
Ojo de agua was nice but it wasn't what we expected. Photos show it fully being in nature and in mineral pools, but it is a tourist trap and so busy. We knew it was popular but didn't expect it to be as commercialized as it is.The best way to describe it is as a public swimming pool in nature. They have built the pools so they are contained in one area. They have a restaurant next to the area, vendors, a slack line and more. It wasn't the true nature experience that we thought we were going to get.It is still a place you should go while you are here and it was still refreshing, but I hope this review helps to manage your expectations.
I dream about this place. It's big. It's relaxing. It's clean. I could spend all day here. Beautiful plants and trees all around. The water is crystal clear. It's also warm water. I loved it here. There are changing rooms. There are hammocks. There are plenty of chairs and tables. It's a great place. You could spend less than and hour or spend all day here. It's so nice.
Ometepe can get hot, and this is the best place to cool off. Nice spot to relax, have a drink or 2, and try out the slackline.
If not for the crowds, the tackiness and vendors, this would have been a nice place to relax and cool off. There are too many souvenir shacks, fancy cocktail makers and too many over-enthusiastic youngsters. Some youngsters were swinging across on a rope and jumping into the water making it dangerous not only for themselves but to others.Alcohol and swimming is not a good combination.Avoid this place!
We relaxed in the pool for a few hours on a hot afternoon- although there were a lot of people in and around the pool, my husband and I still felt like we had a little spot on a far end to ourselves- except for the monkeys perched in the tree above our head. A slack line was extended over one end of the pool and a rope swing at the other. There were craft vendors set up outside the changing rooms.
This was the highlight to our Ometepe trip. It's beautiful! I felt like the food prices were fair, including the fresh coconuts for 25 cords. There were monkeys playing in the trees above us, the water was refreshing and crystal clear, and there was a rope swing. We spent most of the day there. Go early to get decent seats.
It's like a little paradise in the middle of the jungle. So beautiful! Water wasn't cold, it was perfectly refreshing. You can sunbathe, swim around a bit or even try a rope swing!
