There was construction going on when I visited the landmark. Right now you can still see some ducks. I am not sure it would be the same when construction of cabins is supposed to complete at the end of 2015.
The day our family visited Punta Jesus Maria beach it was not overly crowded which was nice. It is a great spot to spend the day with the family. The views are so pretty and really amazing for photos as you can see both volcanoes ( Maderas and Concepcion). Nice to spend a few hours here or a full afternoon. The beach was very clean and only had seashells and driftwood on the shore.
This is one of Isla Ometepes amazing areas. Do not miss it and visit during several different times of the day. From Moyogalpa rent a bicycle and ride four kilometers on the main road to Altagarcia you will pass an airport on the way. After the airport maybe 500 meters more there is a dirt road to the right, turn here and ride down to a restaurant area. Leave the bike and walk out on Punta Jesus Maria. The punta divides the water in lake Cocubolca you will see waves coming in towards the Punta from to different directions. This particularly nice in the late afternoon then the sun sets in the west. If you turn around and look in the other direction you will have a nice view of both Isla Ometepes volcanoes! Colors and light is different so it is well worth seeing several times. Colors and light during a thunderstorm is amazing. You will for sure be very wet but it is well worth seeing!
This place is a cool natural phenomenon on Lake Nicaragua. The name means "Jesus on the Sea" and is a reference to the Bible story of Jesus walking on the water. The sandbar goes so far out into the ocean that if you stand at the end it looks as if you are walking on the water too! If you visit make sure you are wearing shoes that can get wet/sandy, or go barefoot.
We were promised a sunset view but had to leave before sunset. It's a pleasant paddle along the sandbank as the tides/currents meet to cover the sandbank.
Beautiful place to watch the sunset and take pictures. The sand bar is really cool and it makes it look like you are walking on water! Took a cab to get there and made it just in time, the sun went down about 10 min after we got there. Wish we could have had more time to relax and enjoy the view.
This is a gem of a place to hang out for a few hours. Quiet and mostly a local hangout, you will mostly see families and children playing and swimming here. There is a small place that serves cold drinks and plenty of room to explore, swim, and walk out to the point. From the end of the point there is a spectacular view of Volcan Concepcion.
This is one of the most amazing spots in Ometepe with great views of the Volcano. What i emjoyed most was the tranqil setting and the beautiful water which was not to cold and perfect to swim in. For this location a picnic is perfect.
Went mid afternoon, arrived, the little bar was nice, and perfect for a beach spot. Cool drinks, even had hammocks. The water seemed high, and you couldn't walk out very far onto the "point" or sand bar. Had some great photos of the volcano from here, and if you take a tour that this spot is included, it would be great. BUT in my opinion, its not worth the specific effort, to go there, and that be your only spot. If you are on a tour, with several stops, then you can consider it a bonus stop.
it was great, my first time I have seen black sand and a natural bridge, you can enjoy a coke aswell nearby
