Beautiful area, great place to have a soccer game. Drop off your player early and and head to Tullys just a block away to get coffee. Just off the I-90 Freeway
This park has the best beach on Lake Sammamish. The park itself isn't huge like Marymoor. It has some basic amenities, some grilling areas and picnic tables. It also has some event areas that you can arrange for.
I just love this area in its entirety for all the lovely walks and trails they have, this is just another one of them. This is the first time I have visited since moving to Woodinville, but enjoyed all the same, walking with the dog. We used to take our kids here when they smaller al the time, as they have a great park area too.
The park itself is very nice and very big with the requisite beautiful views. My one complaint is the cost of parking.
We were here on a paragliding maneuvers camp over the lake! Beautiful little park on a gorgeous clean lake. Easy to access, great facilities and lots of parking. Lots of shade trees in the super hot weather. Clean and handy. $10 per day. Really enjoyed it!
Lake Sammamish State Park is a good place for barbecue with friends or family. Water lake is very clean and clear. You can meet eagles, ducks and herons. Good place for visit with children. You need pass to visit this Park (10$ for single entrance or 30$ for one year access).
Setting and the water is beautiful. I went with my family during a visit from the other Washington (DC). Great walking with my grandson and dog--wore them both out.
My primary experience with this park was to incorporate some of its roadways and trails into my jogging route during a short 45-residency at a nearby apartment complex in the Fall of 2012 during a job relocation. But I have also visited it a couple of other times for a short walk on a trail or along the beach.Let me make it perfectly clear that although my review of this park is "ho-hum", I am very thankful that Lake Sammamish State Park exists because there are far too few public access points to the lake (for swimming, boating, or simply enjoying the view), which is a real shame and in my opinion reflects very poor conservation ethic in decades past.As my review title implies, it seems more like a city park than a state park in terms of size, features, activities, aesthetic considerations, and escapism value (i.e., sense of being "away from it all"). It's kind of small, the sounds of Issaquah's traffic are never really left behind, there really is not much to do, and the setting is just not very bucolic. The two beaches are OK but nothing spectacular. There are a handful of trails, which can provide pleasant albeit short walks, but these trails do not feel like they are "out in nature". For example, there is a nice trail on the east side of Issaquah Creek leading to its outlet into Lake Sammamish, but there are office buildings adjacent to the park property in the background.Anyway, I suppose my advice would be that if you live in or near Sammamish, or will be in the area, it may be worth a short visit, or an OK place to bring a picnic lunch, but I would not recommend going out of the way to visit this park, and if you do not have a Discover pass, and are unable to park somewhere else and walk in, I don't think I'd spend the $10 on a daily pass. Washington state has many state parks that are far more spectacular.
I went here for a visit on a hot day to go swimming. I wish I had chosen another park. Any other park had to been better. The place was busy because it was hot and its a lake. But really the place is run down, the beach has so many goose turds everywhere, it made me cringe watching all the little ones running around nearly stepping on them. The water was muddy, murky, with lots of lake weed washing up on the shore. Don't waste your $10 for a day pass on this place. If you have a season pass, then fine. But not worth a daily pass. Will not be back.
The park staff was very nice. The park cost $10 for the day, or $30 for the Discovery Pass, as it is a State Park. There is ample parking by the picnic area. The area is picturesque, access to the lake is easy for most. The beach front is a bit rocky. I'd recommend Teva's or water socks in the water, as the rocks do jab your feet. Moving further out, you feel the grasses under the water at your ankles and legs. Made me somewhat apprehensive to go out any further.I noted families having BBQ's, swimming, playing baseball, soccer and flying Frisbees. The park is fairly clean, but not well maintained. The men's rest room stunk of urine, and was one of the most disgusting rest rooms I've been in. You literally had to hold your breathe. It is not a nice place for your children to change. There is an adequate supply of picnic tables, trash cans, and an area to dump your BBQ's charcoals when you are done. There seemed to be a shortage of BBQ grills on the property. There was a homeless man sleeping under the trees while my family and friends were there which gave me the impression that it may not be the safest situation for the children.
