It's an impressive rock with a chiseled appearing face, tall, and close to the road. It's easy to miss the turn out if you wish to stop for closer inspection. Does it really look like a battleship? You'll have to decide.
Best view from the parking lot right off the road. Striking rock formation that does indeed look like a battleship!
We loved everything about the Jemez Mountains and Scenic Byway, including Battleship Rock. I love NM!
Considering that it's only 30 mins out of Albuquerque to get here it's a nice afternoon mountain drive
It's and impressive site. We wanted to hike the trail 137 from Battleship Rock to Jemez falls, but the river was so high we didn't get very far before the trail was under water.
This was our first time at Battleship Rock and we couldn't really find a trail to the top. We asked some visitors on the trail who had been there many times before, and from the picnic area it was apparently a long hike around the back of the ridge to get to the top. We enjoyed walking through the trails to a waterfall though.
This is a nice stop along the Jemez Trail to hike or picnic. There are a number of trails in the area. It is an interesting large rock formation that looks like the bow of a battleship. There are rest rooms and a fee for parking.
It's actually a cool rock that looks like the front of a battleship. Use your imagination. Perhaps I'm a little jaded after seeing Sedona, AZ. If we hadn't been on the way to another attraction we wouldn't have driven out of our way to see it. But worth stopping for a Kodak moment if you're in the area.
Can't miss it. Great volcanic scenery. Good road through the mountains, easy to get to visit. Stop and take some pictures! Just u the road from the Soda Dam before you get to Valles Caldera.
Battleship Rock is an interesting rock formation. It can be easily seen from Hwy 4. A parking lot is available.
