You have to stop by and see the jail... very cool! Can't believe it moved almost 250 feet down the hill!
The sliding jail is a quick and a great place to take a picture. You only need a few minuets. The jail sits by the a cliff with a great view.
Disappointing. Just a shell of an old building at the bottom of town. Really not much to see, other than to read the historic plaque.
Considering this was a real jail. And it's an old one at that we checked it out. You should list some of the people that were visitors. I'm sure a few of them we might know. Very interesting indeed.
We almost missed this attraction. It looks like some ruins in the dirt parking lot. Had we not seen the people taking pictures we would have completely missed it.It is located just past were the road becomes a one-way street and the traffic can be very busy.It is an interesting 5-10 minute stop. One plaque describes the whole attraction.
Slid down the side of the hill/mountain about 225 feet where Jerome is located. Surprised how much survived intact
You can only look at this place. There is information posted stating that the jail was 200 ft. uphill when there was a mine cave in and the jail slid down the hill. It can be recognized as a jail, but it is in pretty rough shape. It is located in an area of galleries, restaurants and stores which is the main business of Jerome nowadays.
Took us a few minutes to find it because we expected more. It was pretty much just rubble. The story was pretty interesting. If you happen to be in Jerome I would check it out, but I certainly wouldn't make a special trip to see it.
We looked at this old jail and I think it's still on the move or what's left of it is , but it is interesting the rest of the town is great
We were disappointed the jail had been moved from where it originally fell. You can actually drive right to where the jail is now located.
