Declared a UNESCO world heritage site and home of the most prestigious public college in the country, the ciudad universitaria designed by the famous architect Villanueva is a place where, despite the lack of good maintenance (due to a budget shortage imposed by the actual government), you can watch macaus flying in couples to their nests, take a break in one of the many green areas, take pictures of many of it's art treasures (including the rectorado square), feel the college vibe around, buy books and visit the famous Jardín botanico. It is accessible from the plaza Venezuela subway station (line 1), from where you can walk or take a short bus ride. It is advisable to visit during day hours and verify that there is no student protest or rally since historically it has been a place for expression of political views.
The campus has many artistic treasures, but it is not very well maintained and unfortunately, there is a security issue. I was told by a faculty member that it is not recommendable to stick around after 4 p.m.
Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas is an university campus filled with wonderful art work, although my advice is to inform yourself in advance which is the student activity status for the time of your visit. on student vacation there are places closed and perhaps it is better to visit the official ucv page for any notification before you visit it.There are guided tours and also a small panflet type book with all the art works and their place on campus.
The UCV is a very interesting university where you can find beautiful archways and architecture and sculptures and huge wall art. La Tierra de Nadie is like a national park in itself with the chicha man waiting for you to buy chicha. However most of the protests and shootings happen here, so be aware and be safe!!!!!
University campus full of art masterpieces. The Aula Magna (auditorium) is a must to see and if you are lucky enough, to watch a performance in it will fulfill your best dreams. Try also The Jardin Botanico (Botanical Garden) situated adjacent to the campus, which belongs to the University. If in Caracas don't miss this place. What sort of visit was this ? Suitable for everybody, couples, family, friends and solo.Last but not least, I graduated in La Universidad Central de Venezuela.
LOVELY univerisity, go and walk nobodys land, or to see the aula magna, the walks around the statues, visit the pool, the hospital, and enjoy a walk around, try the chicha in the clock site
The central university of Venezuela (UCV, Universidad central de Venezuela) is huge, lots of green for eco friendly people, great for studying or relaxing.
I have strong emotional connections with this place where I spent a long period of both Universitary and Postgraduate studies. In my last visit a month ago a saw many negative impacts in its magnificent arquitectural lay out: lack of maintenance over the time probably due to the huge budget restrictions imposed by the current illiterate political stablishment that have ruled my country. Last 15 years. What kind of Revolution attacks his own educational Universitary system? Here! If you want to visit there is a guide tour requested at Biblioteca Central building( Spanish only) If feel like making a solo venture i wise not to carry valuable items Better if getting local companions
Wonderful place, great campus, wonderful works of art, great walks, unfortunately a tad run down
Beautiful place to walk and feel the university spirit. Beautiful works of art all over the University. It´s a world heritage site.
