My daughter and I went on a trail ride at Jackson Hole Trail Rides on our last day in Wyoming. The horses were really sweet and our guide Tyler was nice and funny and made the ride really fun. We rode up the side of the mountain by the ski lifts and you could see for miles, it was so beautiful. When we go back to Jackson, we will be going back to Jackson Hole Trail Rides.
Great location as this is the only horseback riding offered in the downtown JH area - you can walk to the stable if you like. We called the day of and the staff was very accommodating by scheduling our 1-hour ride. Tyler (our guide) was wonderful, very informative, and patient with us as first time riders. They made us comfortable and assured us throughout the ride, especially my daughter, who was a bit nervous at the beginning of the ride. Since you are in downtown JH, the trail starts off a bit underwhelming but as you climb the mountain, the views are stunning. Highly recommend given the price, the location, and the staff. This was a JH highlight for us and right near the heart of downtown. Highly recommend!
Our family (2 adults/2 children) took a 2 hour trail ride with Jackson Hole Trail Rides and it was the highlight of our kids trip through Wyoming. We returned the next day for a one hour ride (they were only offering one hour rides because it was going to rain). Prior to riding, my kids enjoyed feeding and petting the horses. The guides did a great job selecting the horses for all of us to ride. The ride took us up the mountain for spectacular views of the Tetons. They provided a pouch for my camera to make it easy for photographs. The guides made us feel comfortable riding even though this was our kids first time. We loved the convenient location at the base of Snow King Resort right in Jackson; very easy to find. I also liked they accept cash or credit cards so we did not need to carry a lot of cash with us. We had such a great ride my kids want to move there.
Really enjoyed horse back riding here. The people were very nice and their horses were beautiful and very gentle. Our guide was very talkative and informed about the area and the mountains. A professional photographer was present through out the ride and captured pictures that I will forever treasure. Highly recommend.
Ok. What 8 year old does not love horses? Ours sure does. We have 3 girls, 8, 13, and 15. Our 8 year old loved the 1 hour trail ride. The 15 year old said, "We didn't really go anywhere." My 13 year old is not here now, and I can't ask her. My husband and I were not impressed with the trail, itself. Up Snow mountain, switchbacks in the sun. So if you are looking for scenery, this is not it. However, Ariel, our guide, was wonderful. So friendly! She engaged our girls in conversation. We had seen her in the rodeo the night before. Our 8 year old really wants to be a cowgirl. Not sure how that is going to happen, but Ariel talked to her about what she could do, without raising her hopes too much. Trade for lessons, etc. If you know what you are getting, a trail ride in the sun, up the slope of Snow Mountain, but also, fantastic for a little girl who loves horses, they are great. If you want scenery, the 1 hour trail ride is not it. $38 per person, I think.
We were fortunate to be the only 3 in the party. Our guide was awesome, very knowledgeable about the history of the area, and the trail provided us with some of the most beautiful views in Jackson Hole.
My ride at Jackson Hole Trail rides was amazing! Our guide was "Fox" was great. she was born and raised in Jackson and was very well educated on any local Wyoming question we could ask her. Before we went on the ride we were unsure about ridding but "Fox" made us feel very safe. My kids keep asking if we can go out again. Horses were wonderful and the full crew was very kind. Great view of town and the Tetons the full ride! This is a must stop when coming to Jackson!
The location is excellent, our guide, Ariel, was an experienced and knowledgable rider, and our horses were sweet and gentle. Our kids were first time riders, and even though our two-hour tour took us half-way up the mountain, the horses did all the work, and we were able to enjoy the experience and the views. I would highly recommend this tour for families and inexperienced riders (like us). Our ten year old daughter has been begging to ride again.
We took our ride at Mill Iron Ranch and it was spectacular. The view was awesome, the guide was great and the steak dinner afterwards was beyond belief in terms of the size of the steak.
I am an experienced rider so this was a bit underwhelming for me. However, for those with no experience who want to ride a horse and see the mountain from a different perspective, I recommend this. I took the hour tour and we rode halfway up Snowking Mountain and back. It had been a while since I had been on a horse, so I was happy just to be on a horse again. A good family activity for those with little or no riding experience. Underwhelming for those with riding experience and a bit expensive.
