This is a really big park with beautiful views. Lot's of benches and friendly people! I would visit again. The castle is very big.
It will be very amazing when the renovation will be finished. The park as itself is really very cozy. But the Mariinsky palace is closed, it is under construction and will be opened only in 2015...It was very sad, that we could not see it.
This is a wonderful park in the middle of the city with lots to see along the way. If you have some time walk through the park, see the open air theatre, the Lovers Bridge, the puppet theatre and other sites along the way. This is an easy stroll with places to stop along the way and get some views of the river and the other side of the city. I rented a segway (off my bucket list!) for approximately 5.00 us dollars for 5 minutes. It wasn't a long time but enough to ride around the park and have some fun.
The wind was blowing and all the colorful leaves were flying through the air creating a cold invigorating morning. I love the fountain and hope to return in summer when it is working.
The park is very large and very beautiful. A nice place for a stroll and relaxation. The most interesting thing is a dilapidated palace built on the orders of Peter the Great's daughter Elizabeth. It is behind locked gates with a guard. Our guide said that the city is always promising to restore it, but it never happens.
As of Jan 2014, substantial part of Mariinskiy park continues to be the place of the mass gatherings of pro-authorities' marchers. The lower part of the park (atop of Dynamo stadium) is adjacent to where the latest unrests take place. The park has sadly lost much of its charm and should better be avoided at the moment, till the situation settles down.
Nice for a stroll on a spring or fall day. The park gives peace and atmosphere to the city. Worth a walk round and a sitdown for lunch or a drink in the park!
One of the most beautifull place in the heart of Kiev! There are lots of benchs where to sit and several fountains. At the end of the park - Mariiynskiy Palace.
Mariinsky Park located in the center of Kiev, not far from Maidan Nezalezhnosty and Arsenalna station. Here, you can enjoy the view of old linden trees, maples and chestnuts. Also, many interesting monuments and architectural buildings situated here, like Money Frog, Lover's bridge, Museum of Water and puppet theater. More about this park you can read here: http://www.tripkiev.com/2013/06/mariinsky-park-in-shots.html
The park is about 130 years old and is named by the Mariyinsky Palace. It is located in Pechersk neighborhood in front of the Supreme Council of Ukraine. Stadium Dynamo is situated near the park. Also the Lovers bridge that connects Mariyinsky and Kreschatyi parks is situated there. The lovers attach small locks to the bridge believing their love will last forever. Another spectacular place in the park is its viewing point over the left bank of the city.
