For who know Portugal like me, Castles or Church couldnt be so amazing, but believe me.. This city is just amazing. Probably the most beautiful old town and historic in all Portugal. Is history in all over the places.
ProsAll city is very coherent and well preserved, with the building having the same height. Very beutiful balconys and windows. It feels the History of the cityCastle Cons:Parking
This is a very lovely city to just walk around. The houses are all newly painted and the city is sparkling clean.
It is perhaps the best place in Guimarães to visit, full of small street going in any direction it's easy to find ancient architecture and structures between restaurants, souvenir shops, tapas bar and lot of other things. There are a lot of details that you might not see in a first look, like the houses (that are very particular!)
The city Portugal was born as local people told us, European capital of culture in 2012 certainly plenty to see, to visit or just stroll by. A drive to the Church on the high hill for the magnificient view is also recommended.
if the old castle, the center of this magnificent medieval city are very interesting, the modern town is not charming at all
In a relatively small stretch of land one can indulge ina very productive sort of visit. This does not mean it is less interesting than any historical site you know. The concentration of good restaurants, historical attractions in the city which claims the birth of the nation is noticeable. Be prepared to learn fast
A very beautiful historic city well worth spending a day here. There is lots to see and plenty of little coffee shops to enjoy. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Well, the City Center is great but shopping is out of question. So, just see the place, get a coffee (always ask for an espresso) or a beer (be carefull with portuguese beers) and than go shopping to the mall
Where Portugal was born. Very nice city with a gorgeous city centre. Juts stroll by numerous buildings and try to find even two same. This astonished me in whole Portugal. Such an architectonic discord in small details (windows, frames, doors, railings etc.) at every house yet such a wonderful concord in the whole-view.
