点评: Das Hotel liegt ca. 30 Minuten vom Flughafen entfernt.

点评: Please be aware that this hotel’s web site is very misleading. It describes itself as “5 Star” until you receive the booking confirmation, by which time they have downgraded themselves to “4 Star”, a more reasonable grade even by China’s over generous self certification system – given that the hotel doesn’t have a swimming pool! You also need to be aware that Fengxian District is an extreme outer suburb of Shanghai beyond the reach of the train network so you have to travel everywhere by car – and the Shanghai traffic is horrendous. The transfer times suggested on the web site are simply not true, you need to allow up to two hours and 260RMB to reach the city centre or international airport, and half an hour and 50RMB just to reach the south coast beaches – and that is only because there is no traffic in that direction! There is very little to see or do locally – The Er Yan Temple is the only thing in walking distance but takes less than half an hour to look round. The Guha Park and local shopping mall are both a short taxi ride away but really not worth the effort. Don’t get conned into paying extra for “executive club” access, there is no breakfast, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, or library, just a lounge where you can get tea, coffee and read the Chinese newspapers. I cancelled after the first day and I didn’t see anyone else use it! Problems extend beyond the website, even though I’d booked the larger “Grand Luxe” room there was still only enough hanging and draw space for one person because half the available wardrobe space was taken up by a void – presumably a service duct running through the middle of my room! My room featured marble flooring up to and under the door, even though the door had been undercut for carpet. You do not need to be an acoustic engineer to imagine the consequences, but if in doubt try having a lie in on Saturday morning and wait for the door slamming to begin! This lack of attention to detail extends throughout – for example in the gym the water “cooler” doesn’t cool because there is no electrical socket to plug it into! They even tried the currency switch scam when I checked out – the credit card slip was presented with the RMB amount circled by hand, this matched the bill which I’d already checked so I had actually signed before I spotted the small print which stated that “I declare that I have been offered a choice of payment currencies and my choice is final” and that they were going to charge me in GBP, making a profit on the currency transaction. After some kerfuffle they cancelled and rebilled me in RMB using a slip with small print stating simply “I acknowledge satisfactory receipt of relative goods / services”. Hardly the actions of a hotel keen on repeat business. Do watch for this scam, it’s harder to spot than you might imagine! All of the above is unfortunate because this could be a good hotel. It only opened in April and the dust problem reported in May has long gone. The staff speak excellent English and most are genuinely friendly and helpful – I had hoped to post a better review for their sakes. There is an international and Chinese restaurant, both serving excellent food, and the bar has a good selection of international and local beers. There will be more to do locally when the rest of the development is completed. Moreover, if you have business on the local industrial estates the transport problems work in the hotel’s favour – unless you’re prepared to commute for over an hour you might struggle to find somewhere better. If you do decide to stay and want to book yourself then the hotels own web site is cheapest http://www.eatonhotels.com/nanqiao/index.html Check the “special offers” and the “14 days advance purchase” rate, you should not pay more than 624RMB for the “Grand Luxe”, but I got it for 612RMB and I’m sure the local businesses pay less so ask your local agent to haggle a discount – in China everything is negotiable!
