Transport and arrangements very well organised and timely. All booked trips run timely. Island facilities shabby and in need of upgrading. Toilets dirty. Croc sanctuary a bit untidy, slightly disappointing.
it is so different standing on a beach at shore and looking at the ocean, than standing on a beach on an island. So relaxing, blue water, fish everywhere. Best of all just 40min by fast catamaran from the Cairns marina. If you like to snorkel, take the off-island snorkel option, you get into a much better snorkel area than if you would do it off the beach. Plenty of food and drinks on the island. Best of all: Freshwater showers free of charge.
Many many day tour tourists have turned the paradise into a busy, noisy market! We spend nearly AUD6600 for 7 of us for 2 days including hotel, dives, and meal. Unfortunately, we need to stand on the jetty for 50min without a seat for the 10:30am trip from Cairns to Green Island.Although the marine life creatures are worth the visit, it is not your desirable relaxing trip. Never come back during the Chinese New Year!
This was a stop on our boat on our way to the Great Barrier Reef. We enjoyed the tranquil environment, had coffee and pastry, got some snorkeling in and saw much in animal and plant life. There is a hotel on this island as well that I understand is spectacular for a stay.
We spent a wonderful day at Green Island. We found a nice tree on the beach and went in and out of the water from there. Crystal clear water and white sand. We snorkelled off the beach to the right of the pier where the beach chairs and umbrellas are. We saw turtles very close to the beach which was the highlight of our day. We noticed most people stayed very close to the beach. If you can swim a bit further out this is where the coral starts. Lots of pretty soft coral. We saw a great variety of sea life including clown fish, rays and starfish. We took our own picnic but there are plenty of places to get a reasonably priced snack. Can't wait to go out again.
We are a retired couple who do not snorkel or dive anymore but did enjoy the boat trip over and back. While there we had a ride on the glass bottom boat which was really good to see the reef and we were lucky to see turtles. We had a nice lunch but did find it very busy with a long wait. We went for a walk through the rain forest and would really have liked to sit and enjoy the quiet but there was a sad lack of anywhere to sit. I think a few benches would not go amiss. Otherwise a great day for families with a great beach.
We did a day trip to green island the grandchildren had such fun snorkeling us oldies spent a few fun hours in the resort pool had a lovely day plenty of choices for lunch and snacks staff very good
We went back over to Green Island to go snorkeling. What a disappointment! The snorkeling area was shallow and filled with grass. We went out as far as we could and finally did find a bit of coral, some nice fish and a sea turtle. The "resort" was overrun with tourist and because we were dropped off, there was no escaping until our boat returned.
