壮丽的景色!那是非常棒的午后散步。还有,如果你计划看海豹聚集地的话,开始退潮的时候去,在半岛的底部走一走,你会拍到很多不错的照片!
Great beach walk that gives you the option of walking along the beach for about 45 minutes and returning along the beach overlook cliffs about 1 hour. It covers 2 bays including Whalers Bay and is quite scenic. Seals are sunning on the rocks so give them plenty of distance especially if they have young. Expect wind on the cliffs and always be prepared for a sudden shower. Plan about 2 hours total
Views all round that change quite quickly as you progress making it always interesting. Probably no need to complete the full circle.
The long walk from town (i site) to the peninsula is well worth it. I went along the shoreline. Some parts of the scenic route was sheltered but most parts, I was walking in the open. The day was sunny with a cloudless blue sky. Saw the first seal happily bathing in a small lagoon. Another seal was napping on sea grass, oblivious of the people who were busy snapping photos. I got an up close experience with more seals when exploring out to the open tidal platforms.
the views were brilliant, the people friendly and the paths were clearly defined. However, make sure you have a map before you set out, as South Bay can be confusing!
The blue sky and sea views were beyond description. Towards the end of the walk, the tide was low and we walked down to along the coastline. And furseals were so close to you here! This is the most amazing thing I had done in Kaikoura!
A really lovely walk. We went out along the top then came back along the beach. Check for tides before deciding which way to do it!Lots of birds and fur seals to see and constantly changing beautiful views.
great walkway, with spectacular views, however quite some way to walk from Kaikoura centre. Can be made as round trip, but then it's quite some distance to walk along the streets. Better to park the car at the end of the road at the Seal Colony and make the cliffs from there and return.
If you do the whole walk make sure you have good shoes/boots and take plenty of water on a hot day. There are quite a few ups and downs. There is nowhere to get refreshments until you get back to Kaikoura. We really enjoyed the walk, spotting seals and various birds on our way round. It is possible to walk as far as you want, then turn round and go back. Lots of people park where the seal colony is, climb up for the view, and then go back to their car.
We thoroughly enjoyed this walk with beautiful views over the surrounding area and coastline. NZ fur seals on the rocks playing or having a snooze was a lovely sight.
