If you like and appreciate history and archeology, this is another good spot. The entry fee is 2.50 euros. Which is not expensive but you can get a week pass for a little more and it becomes a better value deal.I understand that the money goes to the upkeep. Please show us how you upkeep !!!! As seems that the place is deteriorating.
Interesting. Small but interesting :0) easy to find. Very cheap to visit. Good value for money. Lady in the kiosk was very friendly and helpful.
Went there today (Sunday) just to find out that the site is closed on Saturdays and Sundays!! And I am now wondering when we are supposed to get a glimpse of our own cultural heritage since we work on weekdays... Such a disappointment...
We were staying in the area and so we could see the huge tent every time we drove past. We therefore called in one afternoon and saw the whole thing in 30 minutes. It might be worth longer if you have a specific interest in this period, but we wouldn't have been pleased to have driven out of our way, or to have spent more than a couple of Euros on the entrance fee.
warm welcome from the staff - literally : they offered me their clothes to stay warm. Very imporant site from the world before pottery
small site, easily seen from the highway because of the big tent (thus the name tenta) protecting it from the elements. Round neolithic house ruins, similar to the ones in the chirokitia site. A wooden walk through allows you to see the site with explanatory signs.
We had driven past this site a few times before we actually realised what it was. This year we decided to visit it and for 2 Euro 50 per adult it is very interesting.
a unique ancient site about the first settlements of humanity. here they found handpaints in the inside of the walls which are saved in the Nicosia museum
Das sicherleich sehr teure Dach hätte man sich auch sparen können...ansonsten kann man sich das anschauen. ISt eher was für archeologisch Interessierte. Preis ok.
We had seen this structure many times on our journeys to and from Limassol and were curious to see what is was about. So one day we decided to pull off the motorway and see what we would find. The signs from the motorway were fairly to follow and the ticket lady most helpful. The Kalavasos Tenta is an excavation of a 6000BC village which housed, at its height, over 100 people/families. The remains of the settlement have been tastefully preserved and are easily followed from the guide leaflet and notices dotted around. At an entrance price of €2.50 we were quite happy and my husband who is into architecture was very impressed..
