Absolutely breathtaking !! On hindsight i really wish if we had traveled by our own instead of travelling in a group (took a guided tour), so that we could have spent more time at the park, especially at the Loch Ard Gorge and the inlet...It will be such a loss for any tourist who is in Melbourne to miss the Port Campbell National Park. The only downside I came across was there were no recycling bins (i didn't see any except at the major parking bays), you would have to carry back the empty coffee cups !!
This is one of the many sights on the Ocean Road drive. Take time to view it from all the viewing sights, you can get some photos that will be stunning.
this national park keeps the nature for you, when I look up to tree tops, I felt unleashed. Also I found 2 foxes there!!! very cute animals!
去年在雅安看了沙漠里的“舰队”。这次在这里看了海中的。惊涛拍岸,巨石巍然耸立。日出日落,都是如此撼动人心!十二使徒岩,过去的沉船点……都是各种惊喜滴!
Explored the Great Ocean Road and National Park on a weekend from Sydney. We drove along the Great Ocean Road from Torquay, and returned inland on the A1 to save time. Its worth doing this way as it is likely that you will want to spend longer exploring the attractions than planned (and also if you want to view the sights near sunrise or sunset, and are not staying in the area, travel time should be minimised!). It is a spectacular enough location in its own right, but with wild seas and high winds it is an even more primal experience. Strongly recommend taking layers of clothing, from swimming costumes all the way to sweaters (we swam at Loch Ard Gorge briefly, and the water was surprisingly warm)...Started a Gibson Steps (the only way to get down to beach and sea level near the Apostles), then on to the main viewing area, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, Grotto, Bay or Martyrs. All attractions well signposted and well maintained for the tourist volumes. Final tip - take the best camera with you - if ever a place was set up for spectaculr pictures and memories, this is it.
Good in parts but one look out became very much like another. Lovely blue water and good photo opportunities. Peterborough beach vast and empty
I have visited the Port Campbell National Park 6 times. At least once a year. It is a beautiful reward towards the end of the most exciting parts of the Great Ocean road. Personally the drive after Port Campbell is good but not as thrilling. Not a big fan of heights I have found that it takes me a little time to acclimate to the 12 apostles. But the fencing is great and you are not really looking over a ledge. Best time to see 12 Apostles is in the morning before bus loads of tourists arrive. It can get really frustrating trying to navigate and get a good picture when there are a hundreds of people around. Gibson steps before the 12 apostles are great. Sandstone carved steps going down to a beach. Wouldn't recommend swimming as rips are pretty ferocious and sharp rocks just under the surface. Loch Ard Gorge is amazing. The Razorback is probably my favourite structure and easily rivals the 12 Apostles. I have found through my own trial and error that it is best to stay in Port Campbell as it is only a 5 min drive to the 12 Apostles. If visiting take your time. There are many stops and amazing scenery to take in. The worst way to see it is to rush and miss out on parts. Weather is always pretty cool so take layers of clothes to keep warm or to take off if it is sunny.
I have lived in Victoria all my life and never have been along Great Ocean Road. I just took a cousin from the Netherlands. We took our time and found the experience stunning. we had not booked accommodation, nothing at Apollo Bay so went up through the Otways and found a small motel there. Then continued on to The Twelve Apostles the following morning. We both loved the spectacle of it all, Photos do not do it justice. It is something everyone should experience.
and I wasn't disappointed! the weather could've given me a better performance as there was not enough sunlight to really bring out the colours and natural beauty of this place. the amount if international tourists that swarmed here during my mid week visit tells me that this place is very high on the global bucket list for many. i will bring my family here again soon. maybe the weather will help me take some great photos.
