Fui com minha família, inclusive com filha de um ano. O lugar é rico de informação sobre máquinas à vapor, as explicações são rápidas e simples. Tempo de visitação 1 hora.
This museum is unique. Basically a collection of miniature steam-powered machines that do everything from generate electricity to break rocks and make paper. Unbelievably clever and extremely well laid out. So what is my beef? There was not a single nod to the international crowd. All the signage is in Portuguese, as was all the narration. My Portuguese is good enough to get by in one-on-one simple conversations, but I found it very difficult to get more than the broadest sense of what each demonstrator was talking about. The solution is easy: English is the international language, and if they would just add some English signage, then the problem would be solved. In general I loved the fact that Gramado/Canela does NOT cater to the foreign tourists, but in the case of the "World of Vapor" a small nod to us estrangeiros would have been greatly appreciated!
Impressionante a qualidade das miniaturas das maquinas à vapor. Todos sabemos dos trens a vapor, mas no Museu existe maquinas desse tipo para varadas finalidades e são explicados em detalhes seu funcionamento. Não deixe de ver!!
The idea is intersting. This entertainment features miniatures of different plants and engines used in the past. HOWEVER, explanations are given through a microphone (even though the visitors where just a couple and standing right in front of the miniature) and it was all rehearsed. It was basically an explanation of one minute (bad sound as well) and they then rushed you to the other miniature. The whole visit does not take more than 5 minutes. If there were competent people whom you could ask about the details and the functioning (not rehearsed stuff) it could be an interesting visit. The way it is at the moment it is a waste of time and money. Entrance fee is 14 reais!
It's beautiful to see the miniatures of mills, power plants, machines and factories. They all work just like the real big ones, using vapor, water and other natural resources. Also interesting the history of the Urbani family and Porto Alegre - Gramado railroad.
(don´t forget to say when you are more than 60 years old, it is half of the adult fee for most of the attractions in Canela and Gramado); this place is plenty of working models that show many applications of the steam gas.
There is a lot of miniatures there and the staff explain what they represent! Nothing special. Go if you have extra time.
The place is not that interesting and the food court, if you need to make at least a fast meal is a shame. Very bad experience, dont intent to come back and dont recomend
They show mini replicas of steam and other engines, and explain how they work - quite interesting for children and people curious about how things work. They also make old-fashioned pictures of you (a bit expensive, though)
This is a wonderful place for learning more about vapor moving machines. There is a miniaturized cellulose fabric, it is wonderful to see.
