Well it's a Monastery and that says it all. Silent, sacred place. Beautiful church, nice garden. There is a restaurant up front, but it's quite expensive, and seems 'not in place'. Entry in abt. 4 Euro. Monday is silence day, so no visitors are allowed.
The work on this magnificent monastery is ongoing and its a venue worth visiting. The fabulous position, and newly opened restaurant offers visitors a pleasant experience.
Grounds and church are beautiful and serene. Baroque church and monastery that now includes a small high priced hotel and restaurant. The cafe in the courtyard serves an interesting menu including drink items that are produced at monasteries. Prices are high but the quality of my lunch was excellent.
We did this tour to understand the history of the lithuanian people...and the monastery. Very interesting history and so glad that it has been brought back to life. If in kaunas, you must see..not only do you see the monastery you also get a great tour as you journey out to the monastery. .. our tour guide was excellant. .
Its a bit out of the way but well worth the trip! Spent the day touring the Monastery & Museum, followed by a small hike through the surrounding woods. Highly recommended!
I went to a choral performance at the Monastery and it was well worth the cab ride getting there. The Monastery houses a very upscale hotel and restaurant, where I had a wonderful dinner, and there is also a lovely outdoor cafe. The chapel is beautiful, and the choral concert I heard there was magnificent. If you are in Kaunas in June, don't miss this opportunity.
The architecture was awesome. The rooms inside was awesome. Sisters gave us a very welcome tour inside. The is also a restaurant, we liked it very very much. I recommend going for a walk to surrounding area near lagoon, very nice too
Be sure to visit the Pazaislis Monastery. It is easily gotten to via trolley. There are not a lot of signs in English, so be sure to pay attention as you enter the grounds. The building to buy your ticket in in to your right, and they do have a guidebook in English there. After visiting the Monastery take a walk around the exterior wall - absolutely beautiful.
Pazailis Monastery is magic, especially the church - its something different from other churches in Lithuania - it doesn't have cross floor plan. The monastery was built deep in the woods on the hill, but now its surrounded by water and its very convenient to take a boat tour and to see the Monastery from the waterside during summer season or in autumn, when the trees are getting colourful.
Best place you can visit in Kaunas. If you are visiting in summer not only you'll see this one-of-the-kind masterpiece, but also Kaunas Reservoir - artificial lake with the beach and nice small grove.
