wow......well cartagena colombia has many place to visit ....welcome and be aware that you might not want come back
I stopped here during mass on a Sunday morning while walking around the Walled City. I'm not Catholic, but it was a beautiful sanctuary, and the people were very friendly!
If not for anything else, it is worth visiting this church as the oldest in the city. But it is a gorgeous, well preserved old church in the old area of the city. The whole area is very touristy and best experience on foot. The statue of a fat woman by Fernando Botero is within walking distance. Tourists just love this statue and we also took several pictures by it.Quick tip: Cartagena can be very hot, I strongly recommend hats, use of sunscreen, sun glasses and water to keep hydrated
Beautiful Church definitely worth a short stop. There's a Botero sculpture right out front and a large area to eat
This area is a most when you visit Cartagena outside the Church is plenty of nice side walk cafes, there is also a Botero Statue.I fully recommend this place
Seems to be quite acceptable to walk in during a service and wander around, although photos inside are discouraged. Both times I visited there were services going on. Pretty from the outside but the inside isn't too austentatious.
Together with the plaza in front, and Botero nude also in front, any tourist will use this church as a landmark for orientation. The old, more sober decor inside is refreshing for not being overloaded.
While the structure itself is breathtaking, it was the audio tour that really made it a not-to-be-missed experience. Placards set up in different locations throughout the church tell the history of the Dominican friars who came to Cartagena and defended the Indigenous people from Spanish oppression among other historical highlights.
I went recently to a friend's wedding and this church was gorgeous. The ceremony was given in both languages (English and Spanish) for the convenience of all guests. You should come to this place if you plan to get married in Cartagena. It is beautiful!
It is the oldest church in the city of Cartagena. it is located in the Santo Domingo plaza (my favorite!) There always something going on there at all times. You can take a church tour in several languages for like 5 dollars. It is OK, but I recommend the one at Cartagena's main cathedral better.
