My wife and I only had one day to spend in the Blue Mountain area on our Australian visit (from South Africa). Being moderately experienced climbers, we decided (last minute) to take a guided climbing trip with ASM. Jacindie, our guide was brilliant and clearly a very competent, safety conscious climber. We managed two climbs, including the spectacular Sweet Dreams. The exposure is awesome and the views breath-taking. The gear (and packed lunch) provided by ASM was great.Highly highly Recommended!

He really can improve the adventure and ensure a safe but mind blowing experience! We truly aim to provide the best adventures possible in the Blue Mountains Vertical environment, and we're stoked that you found great value and a great experience with the Australian School of Mountaineering. We hope that we do get to see you again in future- perhaps in a more wild canyon or for some climbing!
Today I conquered my fear of Abseiling all thanks to the Australian School of Mountaineering. The staff were AWESOME, great to have a laugh with but supportive and helpful when you were freaking out. Never felt pressured and loved every second of it, even the scary bits!Let's do that again!!
Thank you for this fantastic review! We hope to see you again soon for the completion of your Abseil leaders Course, and maybe some more climbing or canyoning! We pride ourselves on having down to earth guides that can run a wide variety of expeditions and courses. We were happy to cater for your needs, and it's always fantastic to provide someone with 3 different experiences in the Blue Mountains. Showing off all that we, and our magnificent wilderness environment has to offer is what we live for! Thanks again, and keep putting those rope skills to use!Cheers,ASM
I booked my experience through Red balloon not really knowing what to expect. We hopped in the bus to the practice abseils with our guides being both informative and entertaining. Che and Tim were our guides and were absolutely amazing. You could see from the start that they were passionate about their canyoning and their enthusiasm was contagious. The practice was great to help build the confidence needed later that day. A wrap and muffin were provided for lunch at the stunning lookout at Govetts leap. Following lunch we made our way to Empress Canyon which was awesome. Was a real buzz making our way through to the final descent being a 30 metre abseil down the falls. The only downside to the day was when my heart condition kicked in during the descent leaving me winded at the end of the adventure. The guides were absolutely brilliant in the way they helped me through my episode and I can't thank them enough for the way they dealt with the situation getting me safely out of the canyon. I'm hopeful that I'll get my ticker sorted and come back again with my teenage son later in the year. Overall a great rush, good value and a top day.
This place has a wide assortment of mountaineering and outdoor equipment and gear. They carry some top brands and high quality items, plus everything you need for rock climbing and Aussie adventuring.

An experience of a lifetime! I recently completed one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life, exploring Kanangra Main Canyon, with two friends and Stew, a guide from Australian School of Mountaineering. This is not a trip for the feint hearted and it demands a high degree of competency in abseiling as not to mention a high level of fitness. Most of the ten abseils are huge, ranging from 40m to 60m, beside and sometimes in spectacular waterfalls. The views are breathtaking. I have done over 20 different canyons in the Blue Mountains and for sheer thrill and excitement, this one takes the cake. This is my first experience with a professional guide, and I would not have done this canyon without one. Our guide, Stew, from ASM, was extremely professional, flexible, patient, proficient and helpful. His easy-going nature added to our enjoyment and I would strongly recommend using ASM if you are considering an outdoor adventure.
I did a Learn to Lead Rock Climbing course with ASM which was a fantastic experience. The course itself was great, it's allowed me to achieve my goal of lead climbing indoors. Our guides for the weekend Bec & Hugh were outstanding from start to finish, they were both excellent instructors, very patient and willing to pass on their vast climbing knowledge and experience, whilst always ensuring that good times were had! If you want great climbing experience in the Blue Mountains...climb with ASM!
