This will take you back to the turn of the century.... This wonderful old building has been fully restored. As you enter, you will imaging the day when movies, internet and concerts were unheard of. A time when people actually dressed for an evening out and shows were a treat! If you have a chance to be in Keene,NH, you should make time to take in a piece of history...
It is a nice spacious theater with Abe Lincoln Ford Theater like setting. Plays mostly film festival type movies but also gets some great comedians.
The look and feel of the theater, the location and the lobby. Downtown Keene, NH. We really like this place.
Movies, live local shows or the concert series, this beautiful, re-modeled theater is the place to go. There are no bad seats in this setting where you can admire the beauty of detailed ornamentation dating back to the 1920's and carefully preserved.
The Colonial Theatre is a beautifully restored gem offering many great performances and films. We visited the theatre during a short trip to Keene. The theatre was showing the independent film "Cold in July" which was filmed in our town in New York. We searched many locations in our area to view the film with no luck. Surprisingly, upon arriving in Keene, the film was playing at the Colonial Theatre! We even took a picture of the marquis to prove it to our friends back home. Viewing the film at such a beautiful theatre was one of the top highlights of our entire trip. The theatre is worth the drive and absolutely worth a visit!
This is an old theater with lots of life still in it. It has been tastefully restored, and fun to look at while awaiting the beginning of a show.I frequently attend concerts and shows at the Colonial. I am spoiled, as it is about 30 minutes from my home and has so many great shows each season. Parking is not a major issue. Why travel to the big cities when the Colonial is willing to bring the shows to my door? I have never had a bad seat, nor any complaints with the sound. When there are no shows scheduled- it doubles as a movie theater. One of my favorite things about this is that you can get there early for a show, park the car and there are any number of good restaurants all within walking distance to have supper at before the show.
The Colonial is a beautiful old theatre that was saved about 15 years ago. It brings you back in time to when you saw movies in places that had character! In addition to movies, the Colonial hosts some big name entertainment and there is no bad seat in the house. It is a real pleasure to go there!
I traveled to Keene specifically to see Rick Springfield at the Colonial Theater. This venue is well restored, had excellent acoustics. Looking forward to other shows they may offer.
Attended the Lyle Lovett concert here and certainly enjoyed the concert and the ambiance of this beautifully restored theater. Ushers line up to escort you to your seat and are very pleasant. Seats are comfortable and since it is such a small theater, all seats are great. Would definitely return and will be watching for future acts.
We have seen such headliners as Bill Cosby, Brian Regan, and Bob Marley all in little Keene, NH. We used to travel all over the Northeast to see comedians and other acts and at least 3-4 times a year they have acts that we would never get to see without traveling. We love it!!
