It was very hard to find useful information about guided tours through the manzana complex beforehand. So I thought it might be helpful to share the hours of the guided tours here in case people are searching for it. Turns out that during the whole year there is a morning tour in English at 10 am and one in Spanish at 11 am. They departure from the office of the university museum right next to the church. You gotta go to the office to sign up. It is 10 pesos. These are the morning tours. In the afternoon there are two tours as well whose timing depends on the season. During summer (21 of December till 21 of March) the Spanish tour is at 5 pm whereas the English one is at 6 pm. During winter (22 of march till 20 of December) the Spanish tour takes place at 3 pm and the English one at 5 pm again. The tour goes through the main church, side rooms, the university, the library and gives a glimpse at the high school. My tour guide was a young, dynamic and very knowledgable woman whose Spanish was very good to understand. The tour took us 75 minutes. It is definitely worth doing the tour if you are interested in Jesuits, architecture, arts, universities or churches.
I didn't know much about the Jesuits before we visited Cordoba so found our visit really interesting. We did the English university tour (at 5pm every day but Sunday I think and costs 10 pesos) which was great value for money and goes for about an hour. You can visit the church without a guide but for the rest of the sites you need a guide. We had a really cool gentleman give us a tour and be was really informative.
We were in Cordoba over new year so the whole place was very quiet. On 1st Jan we ventured into town to see if any restaurants were open for dinner (there were a few) and the church in this square was in the middle of an evening service and we were able to watch from the doorway. People were taking communion and one of the fathers was playing a guitar and singing - the congregation joined in the choruses. It was absolutely magical - wonderful and very moving.
Be sure and take the guided tour in English, as it gives you access to parts of the complex you could not otherwise enter. Lots of history within these walls, and beautiful architecture
I got the tour of the University of Northern Cordoba and it was very interesting. I learned a lot about the university (the oldest in Argentina and the fourth oldest in the world), and a lot about the history of Cordoba itself. The old library with the books was worth seeing. It's only a $10 peso charge.
Very nice place to visit in Córdoba city. Highly recommend the guided tour like the reviewers below since it gives you some good information about the site.
The tour is worth doing. We did the English one and had a cool gentlemen with good English show us around. We learnt loads and found it very interesting.
Must do in Cordoba. You are in the heart of the city with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes. Very central to other attractions.
This area is beautiful, home of the Jesuit Church, the great old Colegio de Monserrat and a bevy of museums inside the laberintine University of Cordoba buildings.
Very interesting, with competent guides. It's too bad we could not stay any longer in the library. To be completed with the visit of a jesuit estancia (Alta Gracia).
