Loved the castle and the archaeology section. lots of stuff has been unearthed and it is displayed very well. Information centre is excellent and the staff are very helpful. Good coffee and cake in the café. Good shop too!
Amazing building and a definite must see if you are staying in Kraków. The cathedral was astonishing as were the many different exhibitions offered.
Such a beautiful area to visit while in Kraków, I wouldn't have missed it for the world however after seeing it I have to say I have seen better and I'm a bit bemused that no photos are allowed ;/ were in the 21st century now... You can't expect people to pay to enter and not being allowed to take any kind of souvenir home with them... Rant over I really enjoyed it still :)
boring boring boring! Of course, having been in Krakow and not having visited the Royal Castle would be a shame! However, the Royal Castle has really nothing special to show...apart from the extremely interesting Italian renaissance architecture of the internal yard. That's it. The interior of the castle are basically empty, full of people chaotically guided by the local guides. Bruise everywhere. There are 2 or 3 expositions of armor and Tatars... equipment? don't remember. Anyway, once again, nothing special. The cathedral is simply too CROWDED to be able to appreciate something and the grave of Polish kings plus ex-president Kaczynski usually too. So, my suggestion is to go there on a sunny day to visit the exterior, beatiful courtyard of the Castle but do not spend money to visit the Castle inside.
The castle and grounds are a must when visiting Krakow. The setting is simply stunning and you can wander round all the different aspects for hours.
This like the main market square is one of the attractions in Kraków I enjoyed the most, with a great design, this very well maintained castle is one of the more impressive castles I have seen. There is no basic entry fee, but there are of course extra exhibits you have to pay to gain entry to. But it cost is worth it and the castle on a whole was a very pleasant walk down the river away from the Jewish district with some great scenery.
Interesting tour through the private rooms of the Royal Castle. You get a guided tour which is very informative. Lots of history and things to look at.. lasts approx 1hr 30 min
A nice place to bimble around. A good view of the city. "Basic" entrance is still free on Sunday but you have to pay to get into certain areas
On our recent brief visit to Krakow, we decided to walk up to Wawel cathedral & castle. A nice walk, rewarded by spectacular views of the city, particularly down over the river. Never went inside the buildings, but even out & around the castle & cathedral is lovely.
Arrive early in the day if you want a tour of the castle and to see the Royal Apartments as they only release so many tickets per day. We arrived approx 10.20am and there were only 44 tickets left. Beautiful castle, inexpensive and worth a visit.
