Although the trail is straight forward , it seemed a little confusing to a few around us . It is about 10 minutes from the parking lot to the falls . After just a couple of minutes you can hear what sounds like the falls but the trail continues on without going towards the sound . For a moment you come back and walk next to the road and then snake back into the forest eventually arriving at a viewpoint where you can see the entire falls just up river . A perfect spot to get the best pictures . Continuing on you can hike beside the falls and after a few more steps be at the river just before the water goes over the edge .
Of the 12 waterfalls we visited in Wells Gray Park, we perhaps liked Dawson Falls the most, mostly because we viewed it from all sides, including right near the bottom where the spray of water and the roar of the water make the experience a feast for the senses.
Loved it...easy to get to....right off the road...beautiful! We didn't want to have to hike to visit the waterfalls, and this made it so easy!
You can view the waterfall with only a short, easy walk. Once you reach the viewpoint, you are right next to the pounding water. It's so impressive and powerful and to be next to it to feel the mist and hear it, is simply amazing! Well worth your time!
Only a short walk. We saw the falls in rainy weather, but it probably has more appeal under a bright sunshine.
You don't have to walk far and there is a lovely waterfall here and set in lovely countryside. It is shorter and wider than most visited in the area but the setting made it worthwhile. Lots of wild flowers on the bank too.
Truly beautiful the whole region has lots to offer from antiques, nature walks, spectacular views, great food, the people are warm and friendly huge range of places to stay from camping to top hotels, plenty of activities white water rafting, tracking by horse or foot, mountains and rugged countryside plenty of wild life from tiny humming birds to bears. Well worth a visit but give yourself plenty of time you need at least 2 weeks and even then you won't see all this area has to offer.
They are nice to see but they are no (small) Niagara falls like they promote them. It's just the river going down 1 meter and then slowly go further.
Dawson Falls ( little Niagara) is a photographers dream & an easy walk from the parking lot. Even after many visits it is still a pleasure to see.
A short walk will take you into viewing distance of this beautiful waterfall. If you are driving between Jasper and Vancouver, take time to stop at the Visitor Center in Clearwater. Pick up a map of Wells Gray Park and enjoy!
