Our family went with IWE on a five day wilderness excursion around Mahood Lake and down the Clearwater River. We had an amazing time with a mix of canoeing, hiking and rafting through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and camping in the most isolated and idyllic spots imaginable.IWE were the perfect hosts. The guides were very professional, knowledgeable and great fun. We felt safe at all times, even going through some wild grade 4 rapids. Their hospitality, continual fire lighting and the food were always excellent.Doug and the team at IWE - thank you so much for a fantastic and truly memorable trip.
First I'd like to say I'm not rating the company, but I'm rating the trip we chose. I had trouble deciding between 2 different rafting trips (on different rivers) and chose the 4 hour trip on the Clearwater River with IWE. Had I known there was going to be a 30 minute hike (as part of the so-called 4 hour trip) I would have made a different choice. Hiking with wet suits, helmets and life jackets through a muggy, mosquito-infested forest is not my idea of river rafting fun.The website mentions that the 4 hour trip had a hike to a waterfall, which might have been more tolerable, but that was not the case. It was a hike through the forest so you can bypass and look at class 5 rapids. Plus it was quite disruptive of the trip to be on the water for a short time, take out the boat, hike, then get back in the boat. The guides should have told people about the hike (which included climbing up and down a ladder on some rocks) beforehand. Since they didn't, my niece left her eyeglasses on the bus. So basically she couldn't see on the hike and fell several times. Lastly, there are very few rapids on this trip, I'd say of the hour and a half you are on the water there are fun rapids for about 15 minutes of that time. I wish I had chosen the other trip on a different river. I've been on lots of river rafting expeditions and this one by far is the one I'd recommend the least.
Hi! Yesterday we had an adventurous rafting trip with the four of us on the Thompson River near Clearwater. During a 4 hour trip we had a very safe and nice adventurous afternoon. Our guide Kade was not only a nice and funny guy, but he was also an experienced guide who learned us the basics of white water rafting. Next to the rapids we also swam through "swimming alley". This was an unexpected surprise. Interior Whitewater Expeditions is a good place to raft when you're near Wells Gray provincial park on Hwy 5 in BC.
We had a glorious day on the Clearwater River with Tyler and Sam! Kudos to Doug Trotter and the whole organization for an experience that was exactly as advertised - pure fun and excitement. My wife could not stop screaming and I could not stop laughing for over 3 hours. Both Tyler and Sam are exceptionally talented young men - their enthusiasm is infectious and their confident, reassuring, demeanour makes the experience so much more enjoyable, particularly for anyone who may be a white water squeamish. If there is a next time we would do the whole day trip! Best bang for your buck in the Rockies.
We booked the full day for white water rafting and we had an excellent day. Ken and Diego we excellent and great fun and very knowledgable. The walk was hard work as we had wet suits, coats, helmets etc on and it was hot but we managed it. The falls were great too. Lunch was very yummy and just what we needed. A fantastic time was had by all
This trip was full of variety! Two days of canoeing, one of hiking and two more of fun with watersports (kaiak, swimming the rapids, rafting, cliff jumping). In between we saw spectacular waterfalls, went fishing, saw a bear eating at the lakeside and had wonderful and funny hours at the campfire. The catering was like in a 5*hotel, unbelievable. Our guides were fantastic and excellent in everything they did (cooking the best!). We had the feeling of being part of the IWE-family. Thanks so much for the personal attention and exciting conversation in addition to the thrilling adventure. We will come back.
We, a family with two kids 12 and 16 had a great day on the river. Class 3 and 4 whitewater was handled by our guide Sam, who was very experienced, in a very safe and chearfull way. Further we had a hike to a very nice 80 meter high waterfall. We (those who felt confortable) hiked under it and fell its power which also was a great experience
We some how booked ourselves with 2 different rafting places. We went with the organization that could take us on the original day we wanted to go. However we paid for both in full, not realizing what we had done. These folks called us and even showed up looking for us at our cottage, they held up the trip by 1/2 hour. Only to locate us and let us know what we had done. They did give us back 1/2 (we had paid for 2 adults) our money and are suppose to give a credit for the next time we are out that way. We have not received any word from them as yet. Ths was the 18th of July, and it is now August 4th.
Excellent guides who led us through a wonderful adventure. This is a trip to experience the beauty of the lake, forests, river, and waterfalls. It will challenge you physically at times, but not beyond abilities. Highlights include the waterfalls that you can walk through and around, excellent fishing on the Mahood lake, and a fantastic hike through a magical forest. There is cliff jumping, not for the feint of heart, rapids ranging from class 2 to 4, beautiful campfires and great food throughout. Having been on four prior river trips in the NW USA, this trip was superior in terms of the quality of the equipment (tents, sleeping bags), the guides, and the variety of scenery and activities. It is, however, more intense. You cannot choose to float on the back of the boat while the guide paddles you down river. You have to participate. Doug and his crew (special thanks to Tyler and Kade) were outstanding.
it was a hot day in the 30's but did not feel like it running down the river. Well worth the day to do this. Enjoyable and fun.
