We were so impressed with all the this Museum offers to our community. There will be getting a new VietNam display soon.
This is a newly opened museum, with machinery emphasis on second WW .Exhibits are not just "nice to look at", but are restored to working condition. The standard of restoration is very high. Also on display was a range of uniforms dating back to WW1., Well worth a visit.
My friends and I visited the GI museum a few weeks ago during a short visit to College Station. The collection of tanks and vehicles they have is impressive. All of them in perfect condition and with detailed descriptions. I also liked all the men and women's uniforms and vintage posters they have around. Who would have thought finding such a nice piece of American history in College Station? Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely think this is one of the best attraction in town.
On our annual trip to Santa's Wonderland we decided to take a trip to the Museum of the American GI which is just down the road from Santa's Wonderland. The owners have quite a collection of war vehicles that are in excellent condition. They also have an amazing collection of war uniforms, several of them for the ladies who served in our wars. The displays were very informative and you can tell it's a labor of love when you walk into the display area. If you're in College Station it's definitely worth going by to visit.
We went for the Grand reopening. My 12 y/o son and I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to the volunteer tank commander! He was so knowledgeable! We now look forward to our next visit, and watching them grow! We also can't wait till March for the live WW2 reenactment! It's definitely worth the drive to go!
wonderful new facility and many fully restored running vehicles. Don't miss the opportunity to visit!
Visited this museum during a short stay in College station. It is a must visit for anybody with even the slightest curiosity about wars. I was amazed by the beauty of restored WWII tanks. There are many other vehicles and uniforms worth paying attention to. My personal favorite is the helicopter hanging right at the center. With the staff feeding you valuable information, this place creates a perfect impression of the war era. The museum is definitely one of the best attractions in town.
My 12 y/o son and I went and enjoyed speaking to the volunteers who were so knowledgeable of all of the military equipment on display. It was so educational and worth the drive. And I can't wait til March to see the WW2 reenactment!
My husband and I were fortunate to have an opportunity to tour this museum on a trip to College Station last week with our two children. Wow! What an outstanding collection of military vehicles! This museum is unique in that the vehicles are fully restored and run! Our guide was excited to share information about the exhibits, which also included an impressive collection of military uniforms, and the history of the museum. I look forward to seeing all the action at the Living History Weekend the museum has planned for the end of March!
This museum is truly fabulous. I couldn't imagine a museum housing tanks and military vehicle in great condition. I would highly recommend visiting this museum for a true American.
