It is hard to get tickets for this team, 1.FC Köln. But if you can do not hesitate to go here. It is a nice experience to visit a match. In the Bundesliga you can sit everywhere. If you are an away supporter you still can easily sit on the home side. And that's how football should be lived.
We went to see FC Koln at the Rheinenergie stadion. You can but tickets 2 hours before the match at the ground, or online before you go. We paid 31 Euros each and our seats were in the North stand fairly high up, alongside the away supporters. Unlike my experience of English Premier league this was so relaxed and friendly. Fans were drinking [and smoking - yuk] but there was no sense of drunkenness or threat. Very light police presence, no dogs, no horses. The match was good but the singing etc was great. FC Koln's song is to the tune of The Bonnie Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond and everyone stands and sings along. Surreal! On the way back the tram broke down but even though some of the supporters were the worse for drink, away and home fans were all together with no aggro. It was a really different and fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Tip - buy a scarf. I didn't but there was a lot of community scarf-waving and We would have liked to join in.
If you like football, you won't regret it, trust me. In fact, even if you don't, give it a go, you might be converted.
Easy to reach via tram if you give yourself enough time before a match. Facilities good and clean but buying a beer at half time proved difficult - could do with more kiosks.
easy access from train stop, reasonable food and drink prices, well maintained park, great place for a concert! Not too big, great view of the stage, friendly staff. Would enjoy another event there
This was my 4th visit to Das Rhein Energie and the wonderful atmosphere generated by the Cologne fans throughout the stadium make this a must if you want to sample German football. Great views from anywhere in the ground at very reasonable prices.
Good venue to watch football and more recently a rock concert by Bon Jovi. Good facilities and the stadium with good access via public transport.
We saw Koln notch up a 2-0 victory at the Stadium. Fantastic beer, great Sausages and cracking atmosphere. The crowd were really up for it, the flags were waving the drums were banging. I enjoyed the fact the fans were singing, drinking and smoking...it feels like what football should really be like!
Away fans position is not great behind North Goal and in the corner. Should be more central position as ticket price is same as better placed home fan seats.
FC Köln won the game 2-0, a good boost for their promotion race to the bundesliga. Big relegation worries for the visitors from Bielefeld. One of the better new stadiums in Germany. Amazing to see fans from both teams travelling in the same tram without problems!
