I saw online that the Coronado Visitor Center and History Museum were free. I have paid $$ and not been to a place as fabulous as this! They have fantastic interactive displays of Coronado history with an emphasis on boating and the Hotel Del Coronado. The woman working the desk was friendly and very helpful. I can't say enough good about this place!
The staff at the Del were very attentive and were geared to meet reasonable requests. We had a great stay.
The staff are helpful and full of suggestions. lf you should be stuck for something or somewhere to go; always a welcoming smile.
Great little museum to get some background history on Coronado--lovely antiques from the Del Coronado, and vintage clothing. Be sure to get any restaurant coupons at the desk--handy!
While the Coronado Historical Society Tour requests you RSVP in advance, I was able to purchase a place the morning of from their office. We were lucky having MJ as our guide, she's friendly, fascinating, and knows just about everything about the Del, from the gardens' history to the hotel's infamous ghost. She answered every single one of our questions fully, and kindly guided a couple with a stroller so they could avoid the stairs. I wish we could've peeked into one of the guest rooms. We were fortunate to be a small group of ten. The tour meets at the hotel, so park nearby. If you arrive by 10 am, you can probably park at the free parking down Isabella Avenue off of Orange Ave. or in the residential area. The historical center is a six minute walk away from the hotel. The Del has an outdoor casual restaurant/snack bar on a deck overlooking the beach serving burgers, etc. which is a fun way to end the Hotel Del Tour.
they were helpful with setting up tours and information about local attraction and resturants.purchased ticket for a wonderful tour of the They were very helpful with information about tours, attractions and restaurants in the local area. We purchased tickets for a very informative tour of the Del Coronado Hotel.
The staff was great in providing us with info. and maps. They also have a very cute gift shop, and lots of books on Coronado.
Museum of history and art is in the visitor center in down town Coronado This exhibit will stay until Jan 30, you should come and see it, the information on training is well presented. the Navy SEAL foundation receives 10 % from the admission proceeds. We have seen the seals train on the sands while staying in the stand area. it is amazing.
If you want to have a great visit to Coronado, you have to start here. The staff was so helpful in recommending things to do and places to eat. We could have stumbled around and had a good time, but I want to maximize our limited time here on the island. I would recommend taking 10 minutes to stop in, ask questions and find the places you really want to see. They will take care of you.
Easy to find and lots of ideas on what to do & see and where to go whilst in Coronado. Also contains a gift section. Worth a visit to get orientated upon arrival.
