What a great location, and setting with spectacular views of Torch Lake. Every hole has fantastic views, and challenging. The restaurant needs a bit of an updo, but is functional...food is average, but don't come here for a "country club" lunch...it's not quite there...
Sundance was on my wish list of courses to play. The Proshop worked with me on a time to play and fit me in. The course was great and the ranger helped me fit the 2nd 9 around two foursomes that started in front of me to save time. I want to come back and play some more. It is kind of an open course.
Even on a cooler summer morning this is a beautiful course to play. Great views of the lake from some of the tee boxes. Its hilly, lots of water, and quite a long course. Everything is in very nice shape from the clubhouse, carts, and greens. We would certainly play again when in the area.
Planned an outing with Larry at A-Ga-Ming and he took great care of our group and made me look good. Regardless of where you are staying in the area, I recommend that you check this place out.
We drove several hours to get there but could not check in early was told to come back at 2pm, but the condo was still not cleaned. I asked should we come back at 3pm (check in time) and was told not sure if it would be cleaned, we had to wait. Excited to see the condo but to my surprise the rug was stained all over, floors were dirty, we cooked on the stove and the burner was not cleaned and set off the fire alarm, next day cooked in the stove and smoke was coming out and set off the fire alarm. The following night we had to keep getting up because the smoke alarm kept beeping. All the cleaning lady did was change the towels. What really surprised me flushed the toliet it over flowed, grabbed a towel to clean up the floor and the towel was very dirty. Will never return to this place.
Played all 3 courses. Torch is on site and the original course. Narrow, but not frustratingly so. Good condition and well maintained. Sundance is the newest and also insight. More open, less trees, more heather. Nice course. Antrim Dells is 12+ miles up the highway. I'm guessing they bought it to have 3 courses to appeal to the southern "fudgies". Fair to better course. Lodge of on dire need of some maintenance and updating. All in all, good value. More so if u don't stay on site. $45+ for a round.
We found this place in golf advertisements when we were in the area, so we stopped in. They have two courses, one links-like, the other more parkland style. With nice condo units overlooking the course and lake, we decided to play and stay. We're glad we did. The course was in good shape, and challenging enough for our ability level. The condo unit was clean and comfortable. All in all, this is a place we will revisit, next time for a longer stay.
I took a group of 32 men for a golf outing. The courses were in great shape! Unfortunately the management was lacking to say the least. The manager Larry Lavely was rude and had no people skills at all! The shot gun tee times were set up horribly. I set this outing up almost a year in advance and paid a premium rate to secure our time. They just try to pack as many people on as possible. My group of 32 had to wait an hour for dinner even though it was set up early. They knew what time we were arriving and what everyone was eating and still sat us at dirty tables. Besides the golf courses I would not recommend this resort as long as it is managed so poorly! We had to wait 40 minutes on a tee box on saturday and I had some groups walk off the course Sunday because of the same thing! I called Larry from the tee box to see what th problem was and he shrugged me off and said that is just the way hey do it! Once they have your money thy know they have you cornered.
This was one of the nicest condos we've ever stayed in. We played all 3 courses and liked Sundance the best. Courses in great shape. Clubhouse could stand a remodel but the view of Torch Lake was great. Pro shop was a surprise - a double wide. Food OK.
We don't even play golf, but this was a great place to rest our heads during a trip down the beautiful coast of Lake Michigan! The staff was great because we couldn't get there by the time the front desk closed, so she told me she would leave our keys and the light on for us. And, she gave me her cell phone number in case we needed anything else! The room was so clean. I am not sure if the unit was brand new, but it felt like it! There was no complimentary breakfast like we were used to, but we had our big ol' SAMs muffins at a picnic table overlooking the lake! It was perfect!
