Went to a conference and found the rooms just average. You will need your GPS to find things. The food was just average. The service was average.
It's too run down. Too worn out looking. Price to have tour is too high. There were other buildings not in use. Why? Parking awful. Pretty park. Historical park. Pathetic convention center.
I was in the area for business. I got out of work at 5 and drove over. The gift shop worker helped me out. I got a CD to do my own car tour. He told me to go staight to washingtons house because they close at 6. I drove over and got to see everything. Then I went back to the start of the tour. It should only take 1 hr but I got out at every location, took pictures and walked around. It was 8:30 when I finished. I was over by the church and was able to listen to the bells of the church playing as the sun set. This was a great place even though the vistor center closes at 6 in the summer the grounds are open till dark dont miss out of it.
The hall is adequate. They could use more seating in the food court and more options for food. Hate that they only carry coke products.
The "convention center" is in the basement of a cheesy casino. Although the casino was recently "renovated" the Convention Center looks as though it hasn't had a nickle put into since it was built 50 years ago. The bathrooms were awful.
This is a very nice place to visit if you are looking for some thing very educational & like to spend time outdoors and to walk some trails.
We participated in the Antique Home and Craft Show. Everyone working there went out of their way to be helpful and to make our experience as good as possible.
Expensive, but plenty to do. We did the driving tour with CD for $15- was excellent. FYI--for those people who do not like mountains or driving on windy, high roads, you may want to avoid it!
Attended several days of convention. The seating was good. The AV people were there and helpful. No problems with the acoustics. Many of the chairs were stained so you needed to look before you sit. The convention center was totally underground so there was no light. You can come up to the casino or hotel level for light but immediately around everything is concrete parking lot. I felt like I was a hot house plant needing light so during lunch break I went out and sat in my car for the sun. This really helped. There were some places to buy food but they were expensive. Bring food with you if you can. If the speakers were good I would go back but would not stay at the hotels there would go for someplace that has some exposure to the sun.
Trolley tour was excellent. Our guide Brianna was very knowledgeable and animated. Joe the trolley driver was a pro. Dan gave our tour of the house & was very friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend!
