We decided to stop by on a whim because of the freeway signs. The place was easy to find and parking was plentiful. The shop is located next to the Sun-Maid industrial complex. They have all the items that Sun-Maid produces and the prices are way better than those at regular stores. They ladies were very helpful and even gave us a shortcut to our next stop. We'll drop in every time we go up Hwy 99 again.
I found out about Sunmaid when we forgot to exit the freeway, and we decided to stop there to have a look. You can't see the actual factory but the staff inside the shop are more than helpful to tell us a bit about raisins. There are free samples of raisins and they taste so fresh and nice!
One of the cool things you have in the Fresno area that doesn't take you long to go out and see. Did not see any opportunity for tours, but got a photo in front of the big raisin box and found cool things to bring back for presents for family and co-workers at the store. Plenty of raisin vines around to gawk as you drive
Stopped here on my way to the airport in Fresno from Visalia. It is located right off the the freeway and connected to the actual plant that makes the raisins. The shop itself is pretty small, but they have a lot of raisins (obviously!) and other dried fruits and candies to purchase, along with a lot of other little trinkets. Its a cute place to stop for a quick look around if you're travaling by. Figured I had to stop here since California is so famous for their raisins and Sun Maid is such an iconic brand.
This is a neat place to drop by. There is pleny of parking and it is never crowded. They have a gift shop that is everything raisins. This is also a great place to buy your chocolate raisins...they have good prices there. Before buying, enjoy some free chocolate raisins samples...there are three types...regular milk chocolate covered, double dark chocolate raisins, and double milk chocolate raisins. All are good!Don't expect restrooms if you should need one...there are none there!I only wish they would have a tour of the plant...now that would be interesting!
I knew that there was not a factory tour, which is really a shame. But I did not realize how little information there is about raisins in the store. There are plenty of samples, which is nice. But I still don't know why there are raisin grapes vs. wine grapes, why the grapes have already been dried when they arrive on site, etc. That would have been interesting.
The lobby (where the restrooms are) has a nice variety of historical and art exhibits about the Sun Maid logo.
It was very cool. Great prices. Great signage easy to find. A fun trip. My daughter and I found great buys on dried fruit and nuts.
An amazing array of food and gift items. They must have a great buyer. And the dried fruit selections are outstanding. Some cannot be purchased anywhere else. These are the best raisins in the world!!!!
Every kind of dried fruit Sunmaid makes. Chocolate covered stuff! Better than in regular store prices. Too bad there are no tours. We stop when we go by. No weekend hours, sad. Lots of gift non food suff as well. Not too well marked from 99. If you get the right exit, then it is pretty easy to find, A need to stop place.
