The boyfriend and I thought we would purchase some macadamia nuts, so when we came across the macadamia castle it seemed perfect. Walked inside to find out that theres baby animals. BABY ANIMALS! I couldnt buy a ticket fast enough and I actually skipped inside. Then theres putt putt, and pancakes! and the macadamia's taste great too!
We spent over 3 hours there with our 5 y/o. He loved the golf, park and train ride. We also enjoyed the animal talks, the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We had lunch in the cafe and the pancakes were nice, the other food (burgers, hot food) very average. I would go again, but eat in Byron or Bangalow.
Hi and thanks for visiting the Castle. We open at 8am every morning. I'd really like for you to come back and try us and then write a review. Its a little hard to comment if you haven't been inside our park. As you can see by other reviews most people who try it love it. BTW all our exhibits in the Park are open from 8am and there is plenty to see and do. Organised activities start at 10.30 am. Hope to see you soon.
Thanks for your nice words. Yes we suspect a few more franchisee fast food outlets when the new highway opens later this year. However we will still be offering fresh local food at great prices. And we will only be two minutes from the Ross Lane ( Lennox Head) exit of the new highway. So hope you can continue to visit us. Thanks again.
We were here the day before yesterday. I actually thought this place was going to be a bit of a waste of time and money but I was wrong! Living on the Gold Coast and frequenting Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, I actually thought the Macadamia Castle was smaller yet so much more to do. It suited us better being a smaller park, we have young children with little legs that get tired easily so it was perfect for us! There was an animal (croc and snake) handler, long blondish hair in her 20's - she was so nice, very informative and patient with all my questions, wish I could remember her name but oops! I remember Kahlua the wombats name and she was doing the talk on this 16 year old spoilt beauty! All the staff were friendly! I know we went on the first sunny day for a while so it was busy & there was a wait on food but the staff advised this before ordering which I thought was quite courteous. The icecreams are huge and being a Greenie at heart, I loved the installation of 160 solar panels on the covered car park area, totally awesome! We enjoyed putt-putt and the train ride. Kids had a ball! Thanks for a great day!
We visited with my young son (2) on a Sunday for breakfast before seeing the animals. Breakfast was good (bacon and egg rolls are huge, pancakes are fluffy, great coffee) and we found the service to be polite and efficient.I read some of the negative reviews and the owner's responses before going. It is best to check their website before you go and plan your day around the keeper presentations - which are great, the staff are young and enthusiastic, they engage the kids well, and you can touch and feed the animals. Our little guy had a great time and loved the 'train' ride. Don't buy the 'feed' for $1 a bag as it's just chaff and the animals don't want it, plus you can feed them with the keepers.I agree with some other reviewers that it's a bit pricey and a family ticket would be a great idea. I also agree with the owner that it's fairly priced compared to other similar things in this area. If you don't go at the right time for the keeper presentations and the animals don't want to come out and see you, that's not anyone's fault. The animals were happy and healthy looking. There are 2 playgrounds, one for bigger kids and one for little ones, plus mini golf which they say they are going to refurbish soon. Also, they are involved in frog conservation which is commendable. Overall, I recommend it and I'd say don't let negative reviews put you off but check the schedule on their website and plan your day.
Hi,Thanks for visiting and as you say there is lots to do here. I would like to know a little more about what you found expensive. We pride ourselves on our high quality and value for money. Our meals are large and use quality local ingredients but have much smaller price tags than other Byron or Ballina destinations. Our animal park admission is well below comparable attractions on the Gold Coast. Our fine foods are priced at same as or close to supermarket prices. I would be happy to review any item you thought was over the top but generally the feedback we get is that we are great value for money. Thanks again for visiting and hope to see you again one day. We stopped at the Macadamia Castle on our way from Byron to Mulgowie. A friend recommended it as a definite stop off. We got there for breakfast, and let me say, it was the best big full breakfast I have had so far in Australia. The place was amazing too. We bought numerous snacks for the evening including a macadamia nut caramel ice cream sauce that is to die for. In fact, I might go have some more right now.
We make the stop at the Maca Castle every time we go by. The roasted macadamias are so good!!We've also been into the animal park which is pretty good for families. The animals are lovely and you can hold bunnies & chicks, & feed calves and roos. You can also use the bbqs there as well. The cafe is also reasonably priced & sells good food.
Great place for two tired grandparents to take the 5 grandchildren though the 11 year old is looking for a venue a little more exciting but he's almost 12 so understandable after being here for 4 wonderful years in a row.The pancakes were out of this world as usual. Macca restaurant has a sheet which shows the additives contents with numbers for their pancakes which is amazing for someone with intolerances such as colourings and preservatives. It made the choice of toppings so easy.We will be back with or without the 12yr old.
