Thank you so much for taking time to write this nice review, We are very glad you enjoyed your visit. It is true, our old prison is very impressive. My office is located in this building, and every day I'm still impressed (and it's been 7 years now!) :)Best regards, Marie-Hélène RaymondWeb-content and community managerMusée national des beaux-arts du Québec
Thank you for taking time to write a review on the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. And thank you for your high rating, even though you don't like modern art so much ;-) The Musée's mission is to make known, promote and preserve Québec art of all periods. You probably didn't get the chance to visit some of our exhibitions presenting pieces from the period under British rule (1763-1867), which might have suit you more: http://bit.ly/1v4Zsuj Hope to see you back soon! Thank you for your kind review. We will soon have more rooms for Quebec and Canada's artists! The Museum is expanding... In order to continue to grow and finally be able to exhibit a significant percentage of its collections, in 2011 the MNBAQ began construction of a new pavilion, which will help it play a greater role in the Montcalm neighbourhood. The new Pavillion will open in 2016.Marie-Hélène RaymondWeb-content and community managerMusée national des beaux-arts du Québec
Thank you so much for recommending the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. We are glad to learn you enjoyed your visit. You are right: culpted ceilings, columns capped with cornices, elegant forms: the Musée’s architecture is sure to impress!Quebec City’s former prison – a unique heritage building restored and made part of the Musée in 1991 – is a chance to experience real solitary jail cells, witnesses to prison life in the early twentieth century. Soon, there will be a fourth building (you probably noticed the major construction project!). The Pierre Lassonde pavilion, located on the marvellous Grande Allée, will be the gateway to the Musée. It will include the ticket counter, cloakroom, boutique, café and auditorium, equipped with the latest technology. The building’s architecture will be harmoniously tiered with generous exhibition spaces: six exhibition galleries for the display of post-1960 collections, two temporary exhibition galleries and four permanent exhibition galleries (art of the present day, contemporary art, Inuit art, design).Best regards, Marie-Hélène RaymondWeb-content and community managerMusée national des beaux-arts du Québec
