Marsha Ball and Johnny Nicholas...WOW! Great show...people...place..it popped! The Bugle Boy in La Grange Texas is a must do on your list...one of the last listening venues. We enjoyed the evening....and shall return for more.
They call their place a "listening room" - a term I was unfamiliar with. But I get it now. Smallish stage, row seating, no dancin'. Acoustics were great and we were treated to some great music by a folk band from Arkansas called "3 Penny Acre." The seating area seats about 80 or so. The Bugle Boy is a non-profit...I have no idea how they bring in the bands they do to La Grange - just a small town of 5,000. If you are near there, check out who's playing, go eat at Las Fuentes and then go listen to some great music!
Best music venue ever. Great sound system, great performers, audience is respectful of music, good beverages, great staff, reasonable admission, early ending. I could go on!
This is a listening room for great music artists. As the sign outside says," Loose lips sink ships". This isn't a bar, but a venue to enjoy many different kinds of musical talent. We've never been disappointed. Tickets are generally about $15.00. No reserved seats, but there isn't a bad seat in the house. The folks who run The Bugle Boy are very community minded. You'll see them out and about volunteering in other areas of town. Give it a try when you're in the area. Every Friday and Saturday Night.
You are treated as a friend by the staff, the acoustics are good, really a great music venue and experience..
The Bugle Boy is run by a nonprofit foundation that not only guarantees a minimum to performing artists but is a great advocate for music education in the community. It is a true listening room, using the expression "loose lips sink ships" to admonish concert-goers to listen rather than talk. The staff and volunteers are friendly and the music is always top notch.
always willing to travel from Fort Worth to listen.... the talent and "listening room" are the perfect combination!!!
A real entertainment surprise. A small venue (compared to large cities) lends a pleasant intimaacy with the audience and performers. Original artists and established acts come through the Bugle Boy throughout the year. A non-profit, they do much to support the arts in a town that pretty a.b.Keep in my this is a "listening" venue with comfy seats but not a dance venue. Beverages are available and dining nearby (suggest the Bistro 108 or Guadalajara - hours are an issue as small towns close early).
The Bugle Boy is always a marvelous experience for music and entertainment, a fusion of country and local eclectic. Situated in a converted barn (of sorts) it always seems to draw capacity crowds, serves mixed beverages and a variety of beers with a quaint charm that belies its outward modesty. I've enjoyed three performances and enjoyed them all!
I've visited the Bugle Boy several times and am never disappointed. Check it out when you are in Fayette County area. It is worth the effort.
