A quirky building wih a fascinating history. Worth a visit if you are passing on your way to the cathedral or Richard III Centre. Entrance is free but it is not particularly well presented with bare rooms and old information boards. Stairs, no lift.
A wonderfully maintained historic bulding, in the heart of Leicester. This place has so much history, you can almost feel it! Ghost nights are held here and, although I've never been to one, I'm sure they must be incredibly spooky events, as even in the daytime you can feel there's a certain energy about the place.
Walked up to visit Guildhall was very disappointed to see sign saying it is closed November to January. No mention on website and leaflets when we looked. Event was on but wasn't of interest to us.
Wonderful old part of Leicester that was almost demolished, but was saved. Thank goodness it was rescued.
This is an impressive medieval timber-framed Guildhall in a quiet street: one of the few historic buildings in Leicester. It is definitely worth visiting.
First of all this is not Disney you won't find any large mice roller coasters or mock Vintage stage shows this is real the Guildhall is one of the oldest buildings left in Leicester. It is quietly passing the centuries unspoiled by modern dressing. There is a new entrance reception coffeehouse adjacent to the Guildhall which sits in recently updated Georgian quarter of Leicester the newly opened King Richard the third exhibition is just across the way. Because of its age and authenticity disabled access is quite limited but worth it.
I married my husband here in August 2010 and I can't praise it enough. If you are looking for somewhere away from a church but want history and character this is the place! - there was even a ghost on one of our photos!!! The staff were friendly and helpful and the guests were impressed;-)
