Even if we didn't make any money (no surprise). Mostly slots, but also table games and off-track betting (limited hours). Casino wasn't crowded, but it was mid-day and a weekday. Weekends could be very different.People seemed to enjoy working there.Had lunch at Cafe Sage, which was reasonable priced (about $20 for the two of us for lunch) and quiet for a casino restaurant. Tables are spaced far enough apart that you don't hear your neighbors' conversation. Portions were large and came with a cup of soup and service was attentive without being obtrusive.
My daughter-in-law's mother invited us to stay with her, her son, her daughter, my son and our twin granddaughters here for one night. Like most casinos it is far away from the freeway and from Poway. We were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful grounds that surround the casino and hotel. They have water features with koi fish, a rose garden, a pond with ducks and a golf course. You can relax by the pond on a bench and watch the ducks. We were treated to dinner at the buffet and I was amazed at how much food they had. They had every kind of food you could imagine. We had breakfast with our family in the room which was very good and well-priced.Lunch at the food court was very good also and the prices were very reasonable.I did not win at the slots but our host did very, very well. There weren't as many new games that I have seen in Vegas. We took the grandchildren on a walk around the property and they enjoyed seeing the ducks. We were greeted with lemonade by the staff when we came back into the casino. Most of the employees seemed very friendly.
Barona does it right. It's all about the customers. They focus on making every visit a pleasant one. There is a restaurant for every taste, a game for every interest and service people who are friendly and attentive. The casino is well kept, has great decorations for every occasion and the most up to date machines. The buffet is always busy, the food court has a nice variety of fast food and the poker room is friendly and conveniently located. The new parking garage is well lit and close to the stairs and elevator. If you like to go casinos, tru Barona.
One of the best buffets I have been too and I have been around the country. The tribe should sue their design team for terrible design in and out. The wait is long...you get a pager to then wait in line some more once called. Machine's were super tight. If this casino is number one in the state do not gamble in CA. Only go to this place to eat. Spent over $500. On slots in 2 consecutive days came out with $0. Both days.
Not familiar with this casino. We happened to stop by on a Sat. night. Bad idea. It was so crowded that a slot machine was like "gold" if you could find an empty one. Probably a better time to gamble would be a week day and early.
Buffet is typical and nothing too boast about but not too bad if you want a variety. Servers are friendly but other than that it's not too bad. I give the buffet an Average rating since there's really nothing that makes them any better than typical casino buffets. The food court is good if you want a cheap dessert - had the gelato and it's really good. Chocolate malts was good and good value if you don't want to spend money at the buffet. You can get pretty much a good meal from the food court and not spend $23 per person, which we should have done. I give the food court a Good rating partly because of the food value. Both areas are clean and there's plenty of water and lemonade to go around. Go to the front desk and get a card to receive 20% off the buffet. I probably won't do the buffet meal again but will return to the food court if I get hungry.
The casino is not too big with plenty slot machines. I don't play other games but see many poker and other gaming tables. There is a no smoking section which I wish was bigger than the smoking one! The DR has a good buffet and there are a few other places to eat which are reasonable. Rooms are quite large and well appointed with very large bathrooms. This is easier to get to than Vegas and just as good a gaming experience!
This casino is very friendly and has a great atmosphere. We were greeted with a table set up with lemonade and ice water. They also had carts going around constantly offering juices, water, and sodas and even ice cream. Lots of machines old and new style. The grounds around this casino are amazing as well! Oh, you MUST try the buffet! It is delicious!!
The buffet has food from all different countries and the staff is very friendly. Also the slot machines are varied and fun. There is also a flower garden close by.
The Casino is busy and most machines are taken. I see people winning a lot. The VIP Hosts are great, especially George. Also, Corylynne and Cory are great hosts as well. Everyone is so kind and friendly.
