To my mind, the best times to visit the church are:1. Saturday afternoon when there is a wedding, to see the locals all dressed up and excited2. In the early evening, when the church is lit up and majestic3. When there is a service, (fath is irrelevant) as long as you are able to appreciate the history, architecture and melody of the hymns
This church is absolutely beautiful. It stands tall in the middle of the busy city of Larnaca and it's surrounded by cafes and shops. It's architecture and design are stunning. It's definitely worth a visit.
Amazing inside for a small church, Very ornate decoration Lazarus crypt not much to see. Museum was always shut but it was the Christmas Holidays. Nice walk around the area and some nice shops and cafes nearby.
This is one of the most important attractions in Larnaca and is one of the most peaceful places in Larnaca although I imagine in full season there are quite a lot of tourists.Worth the visit inside and also near-by grounds, very nice atmosphere inside. Some nice stores and taverns near-by, also very close to the beach and promenade.
it was right across from tamalas bar so we parked up and walked across for some pictures, its really beautiful and still used.not much else to do but i live photography and history.followed up the photos with a lunch at tamalas so all in all a great day out!
not the biggest landmark church you may ever have seen but this little church, set in a pretty square is quite a magical place. It is the focus of much care, pride and spirituality by the local people, all in all a moving and memorable place.
Very nice church with very interesting history if somebody can tell u... It's very old but beautiful place to take photos as well..
To understand the importance of this church I think you need to understand the Bible story of Lazarus better. The architecture is pretty amazing. The tomb is inside and down a small set of stairs. The amount of frescoes on the alter is pretty breathtaking and slightly overwhelming. The museum is barely worth the 1 euro entrance. It has artifacts from the church like chalices and clothing.
Impressive history, a richly decorated church, warm, welcoming, plenty of icons from various centuries.
Located in a beautiful square with little shops and cafes around to sit and enjoy the view. The church itself is amazing to look at, a real gem for Larnaka.
