I took my family of four to the matinee show of the Lion King. My wife and kids (ages 6 & 8) loved the show! My kids' very first live theater. This is a huge production and heard it's the largest touring show in the US (15 trucks to hold all the gear!). Our seats were on the lower level all the way back (last row). We thought we were going to be closer when we booked the tickets, but we had no issues with the sound. It actually helped I think because the costumes appeared even more animal like the further back you were. My 6 year old enjoyed the show but I think starting to get a little worm out by the end. It's a pretty long show at maybe about 2.5 hours. Lots of kids at this show as well, so be prepared for the occasional kick of the back of your seat if a little one is behind you. An incredible show for all ages to be sure. The venue itself was very nice. Parking was easy next door and had a convenient skywalk to the Center. Affordable too at $7.50. We also appreciated the food counter after our long drive where we could get a chicken salad sandwich before the show.
We saw Alvin Ailey Dance last week. Sensational Show and Theater. But... $15 for parking, $12 for a small glass of wine, ticketmaster $$$ addons to buy online all equal almost the price of a third ticket.Maybe that's why the show was not sold out as in the past and why no one was at the bar at intermission. Many of the shows tour Florida and we will probably go elsewhere next time.
Broward Center is just wonderful, the location on the New river, the parking, facilities, decor, staff all great. The Center takes on the performance, and "Shen Yun" is an excellent performance. The curtain goes up, the radiance of the dancers, the mesmerizing handmade costumes, the animated backdrops, all give you a sense of beauty. The energy from the dazzling choreography, the thunderous drums, the live orchestra are part of what you see, hear and feel. They have incorporated spirituality as a theme with their meditation and mindfulness. Chinese classical dance and music is theatrical. The Shen Yun troupe blends ancient legends, historical tales and characters with topical events from the modern world. Their search for the meaning of life.
I went to see Motown The Musical at this venue and fell in love. This is a really nice looking theater, I had a box seat and loved it. The show was awesome, I missed it when I was in New York but was so glad I got to see it here. I love the location of this venue, its got great restaurants and things to see nearby. They had wonderful wine and cocktail bars that I was able to enjoy during intermission and there were some really food and desert options as well. This is a centrally located south florida venue that I will recommend to anyone. Parking is across the street and when we went the pricing was 12.00.
My wife and I enjoy the theater and saw that the Lion King was debuting the week we were in the Ft. Lauderdale area. We went to the facility box office and purchased tickets for opening night around noon. We bought seats in the front center orchestra, much to our amazement that they were available. After the purchase we explored along the riverfront right below the box office for a few minutes and we ran into the facility manager. We talked to him a few minutes and he in turn showed us around the facility and explained some of the background and history. He spent likely 20 minutes with us and was a pure joy to have an insider explain the facility and tell us all about it’s expansion and future plans. The opening evening we arrived early and waited for the doors to open. The lobby had a free photo booth that occupied your time while you had your short wait to have your photo taken. It was unexpected but welcomed a day later when it arrived also by email to save the digital photo. Was a bit surprised that others were not there early too but once we were seated it filled up to most capacity that night. The performance was very enjoyable and the theater itself is fantastic. The acoustics were amazing and the show went by too quickly. Was an amazing evening and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
we have been here twice in the recent few month. Attended different musical events. My only concern is the air conditioning. It is very efficient so plan on being very cool. Bring a sweater or jacket!
Saw this play yesterday as a matinee. I saw it in New York City two years ago. Very good. The talent of Clifton Oliver as Barry Gordon Jr. was phenomenal. The voice of Diana Ross played by Allison Semmes was spot on. Her speech, mannerisms, style of dress, were just terrific. The Jackson Five were also portrayed excellent from what I can remember watching them grow up. I would highly recommend this show to all ages. The theatre as usual was great and the ushers did a terrific job. Very helpful.
There couldn't be a bad seat in the house. The facility is colorful, easy to reach and provides a variety of programs that appeal to a variety of interests. Covered parking is available across the street but residential side roads are free. If you choose to use the parking lot be sure to arrive very early as there is frequently a backlog of cars. There always seems to be a full house-- there certainly was when Mo'town the Tour was performing. Wonderful! The ushers are extremely helpful and friendly. No Ticketmaster add-ons if you use your phone to buy and store tickets.
I brought my girlfriend here as an present for her birthday since she has always wanted to see the Lion King play, and I have to say it was amazing!!!! From everything to the costume design, the music, the acting, the set up of the stage, and it was even comical in some parts of the shows, it was just simply amazing, the only bad thing was the parking, we were able to find parking right away, there a garage next to the venue, and it only $12, but the bad part was when we left, it took us 20-25 mins just to leave the garage, but other than that, beautiful theater, and amazing play!!!
