Seeing the old neon signs and hearing the history is very interesting. You must book this in advance, as all tours are guided.
The best way to see this museum is to buy the companion ticket to the Mob Museum. If you buy both you get a discount. The neon signs are great and really remind the visitor of the history of the Las Vegas Strip and the Downtown Area. The kids are going to be totally bored so don't bring them here.
I went with a group of people and we had a great time. The tour was informative and interesting, seeing the fun signs and hearing some history about old Vegas. Our docent was a little quiet, but overall it was so great. The people there were so amazingly nice and helpful. Since we needed a cab for 5 they made some calls for us and stayed on top of making sure they were sending one ASAP. We all loved the great customer service there and I would recommend that anyone in Vegas stop by.
Get the tour at dusk. There is time to see signs before it gets too dark and even with the broken signs appreciate the glasswork and artistry that went into LVs signs. They are in to process of rescuing as many old signs as they can and I think they have their work cut out for decades to come. Once night falls you see the restored signs in all their glory. My favorites are the mercury blue ones - spectacular close up.
Really enjoyed the museum. It is a must for a night time tour, great photo op. The gentleman giving the tour was great, knowledgeable and not boring. Wonderful history of the signs and Vegas. Could go again to catch signs I missed. Neon craft is a fading art.
This is a great collection of iconic Las Vegas signage. Steeped in film history, people all over the world who've seen movies featuring the Vegas Strip will recognize something from this collection. It is worth doing both night and day tours. I'd suggest doing the day tour first and then the very limited night tour.
We went when it was very hot and would never do that again. Don't go if it is close to 90, hard to stand in one spot and listen. But, gal who talked about the signs was knowledgeable and made it interesting. :)
