We were in a bit of a hurry and coundlt take the full 1.5 hour tour, but we still wanted some history and to sample the bourbon. Thankfully, they have a tasting tour that was about 30 min. We tried their bourbon, had some great discussions with the guide about bourbon and it's history, and got our Bourbon Trail stamp.Overall, great accommodations.
We didn't take the tour here because of a time restriction on our part., but the staff (Mark) was very accommodating and made our tasting one of the highlights of our entire trip! Loved all of the product offered for us to taste and especially like the souvenir glass with the Four Roses shaped in the bottom. Free admission to military personnel (active or retired)...which we thought was great.
This is where all their Bourbon is put in barrels to age and then bottled. The visitor center just opened but is well laid out and the staff is full of knowledge and history of the Distillery which is located in Lawrenceburg, KY. A real neat place to visit, even if you don't take the tour.
This was our second stop on the Bourbon Trail. A short movie in the beginning gave a nice history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made for a very entertaining and informative visit. The tasting room was fun, and we got to keep the glass.
I have never tried Four Roses before and wow what have I been missing! For me this was the surprise of the trail! They are making some excellent Bourbon here and I am ashamed that I waited so long to try it. We had a great tour guide (probably the best of the trip) and the distillery is very beautifully designed in the Spanish Architecture style (which is unique in Kentucky to say the least), make sure to take a look at the single barrel bottles they have in the gift shop. They have enough choices where you can basically choose your own mash bill and yeast, which I don't believe you can do anywhere else. I had fun learning about the differences and picking out my own (style).
Very informative nice gift shop clean had a great day ending with the taste testing and friendly conversation
Very old school tour with a great tasting at the end...and you keep the glass! The people are friendly and welcoming. They do not bottle at this facility.
This is the third distillery on the bourbon trail I have been on and one of 25-30 I have been to around the world. It deserves a four star review for being a good experience but nothing really excited me or made it set itself apart from the middle of the pack. If this is the only one you have a chance to get to go to in the area, go there. If you can make it to buffalo trace or Woodford I would refer you to one of those.
For five dollars, you can tour the distillery for about an hour and then do a whiskey tasting at the end. Our tour guide, Kathleen, was great & made the tour informative but still fun. We even got to keep our whiskey tasting glasses at the end of it!
We love Four Roses. It is one of our top 5 bourbons. The distillery tour is fun and unique. It is a smaller operation than some, but that lends to its charm. Free glass with your tasting so that's a bonus as well!!You have the opportunity to buy some bourbon in the shop that can't buy elsewhere (Pennsylvania resident here). The master distiller picks selections from their 10 recipes and you can buy those!A great stop on the Bourbon Tour!!
