Jacobson Park is a great open space to take the kids, the dogs, or just to go and relax. Lots of weekend festivals/carnival type stuff occur here, so unless you are going for that, check the schedule online before you head out.
This park has a large fenced in section for an off leash dog park. The location was near our hotel, easy to find, and clean. It was a great location for our dogs to run and get worn out after a long day of driving and before starting another long day the next day. We have 2 dogs and they clearly enjoyed going here.
This park has it all. There are shelters that must be rented out by contacting parks and rec. They also have a huge wooden playground and beautiful scenery with the lake. There are paddleboats that cost $5.00 and you must have cash. 2-3 people can go on the boats. The lake makes for great nature watching, fishing, and feeding the ducks. Camp Kearney is held at this park contact parks and rec for info about how to enroll your children. There is also a dog park here. This is newly remodeled with two separate areas that are fenced in for you to let your dog roam freely. You must stay with your dog though. Huge fields for flying kites or playing soccer. On Friday nights this park plays a childrens movie on a big screen out in an open field. It is free and totally fun!
There is something for everyone here. Walking, fishing, paddle boating, dog park area, biking and a truly wonderful playground.
There is an open lake, wildlife a plenty, plenty of green space to throw ball, fly kites, or fly airplanes! There is a gym for kids to play on and shelters for fellowship. Also plenty of chances to catch some fish!
A wonderful place to spend a few hours to a whole day. The lake is stocked with fish. Boats are available for inexpensive renting. The park is beautiful!
This park is well designed, quiet, and well maintained. It has 2 separate large bark parks and a playground for children. Also has a nice shelter area and a sports area for soccer, etc. A nice place to go for peace & quiet or family outings.
Beautiful park with lots of space for picnics and kites. Covered eating areas are booked far in advance but some are nice enough to share. Frisbee golf set up nicely. Dog park is plenty big. The lake is perfect for fishing. You can take small boats onto it inexpensively. Lots of parking. Very well kept. Friday nights in summer are family movie nights for free. The city should be proud of this place.
Very nice public park with a lake for fishing and paddleboating. There are nice picnic pavilions for large group outings. Closes at dusk though.
I was driving by this park when I saw and said that is a park I will take my kids to this Sunday. I am from North Carolina and staying in Lexington for the night to pick up my kids when I drove by this gem of a park. On our way out of Lexington I took the kids through the park and we wished we had more time to enjoy it. The residents of Lexington are lucky to have this in their backyards, my kids said they wished they had this in Charlotte. The road through the park is nice and it seemed there were a lot of Sunday gatherings going on. We found the play ground and it was awesome. It is an all wooden structure that looks like a castle. Adults and kids can roam on the equipment without getting cramped on it. It is spread out. Great hide and seek play area, my 7 year old loved it. He did not want to leave! Finally after an hour we left and we definitely will be back when we drive past Lexington next time. There is also a lake with paddle boats which my teenagers wanted to do, but weren't quite open yet. I loved the grass mowed hills and they were so green, a nice change from North Carolina!
