Located near UK Campus. Great place to take a jog or a walk. Lots of pretty plants, flowers, etc. Take a blanket and a book and stretch out on the grass and enjoy the sun and sky.
We had a wonderful visit to the arboretum while we were in town. The kids loved all the old tree truck that were hollowed out, they were climbing on them most of the morning. The rose garden was just as beautiful. Plenty of paved trails for walking or running and lots of open space for the kids to play. The children's garden was SPECTACULAR - just make sure you bring shoes you don't mind the kids getting wet! They had a ball splashing in the little creek that runs through the front of the garden. Their next favorite was the grass maze.
Great place for a walk or a jog. Lots of paved paths but there is also a nice wooded area, makes you feel like you're far away from the city.
Don't come at the end of November. Everything is dead, HAHA! 5 stars because I've seen it so many times during the summer and it's beautiful but dragging the family here today was a humorous experience. It was a nice walk, even though there wasn't a single flower left!
This is a very nice place to walk or run, they have paved paths. They also have lots of beautiful spots for pictures. I've taken tours about tree info - very informative. They have lots of student activities available. Again, I suggest looking at there website. But if you just want to see lots of gorgeous trees and gardens - it is a perfect place.Onsite bathrooms too
With three paved loops, walkers, runners, strollers, and dog walkers have lots of room to enjoy outside exercise. The loops pass through beautiful landscapes portraying the diverse vegetation of Kentucky while providing a variety of rolling hills. Parking is always available.
The arboretum is an easily accessible haven in the heart of the city, right by the UK campus. I love going there to run and take in the beautiful foliage. The path around is about 2 miles around, and there are always plenty of other runners out there too.
The Arboretum is a gem in Lexington. It is a wonderful place to exercise, take a gentle stroll, walk a dog, or just visit the exhibits of various native plants. The gardens are beautiful.
It was just so hot the day we were there. The welcome center is open M-F and although the website says til 5 p.m., they close at 4 p.m.Restrooms available inside this center.I did see a porta potty outside in the parking lot.Lovely trails and would have done more if the weather wasn't 95...hope to go again when it cools off. Lots of plants and lovely trees.
I love walking the trails of the arboretum all year round. The voluntary groundskeepers do a great job keeping the trails interesting.
