Perfect little place that my husband and I are going to make a weekly date night out of! Great beer and great food.. what more can you ask for?!
I went to west sixth on a recent trip to Lexington. The brewery is in an old bread factory, and has been completely made over. The brewery has a mission to give back to the community, and support local artists. They have a local coffee roastery renting space from them, and you can purchase the coffee beans in the brewery. Anyway, the beer is solid, nothing that rocks your world, just nice, true to style beers. ( we sampled them all) they also offer a homemade soda which was tasty. We tried the pretzel with the beer cheese. That was ok. The bartender was very personable, and if you hang out in the indoor, " beer garden," you can bring your dog. The other part of the brewery is attached to a restaurant, so dogs are not allowed. We were there early, and as we hung out, the place began filling with locals, so,,it's a popular spot.
West 6th is a great place to meet up with friends and have a few beers. Now that food trucks regularly show up, it is a place where you can stay longer, have done good and make it a longer evening.
The free tour of West Sixth's brewery was fun and interesting. We had a great time, got to try several of their beers, and received a free glass. Our guide, Stephen, was great! He obviously loves his job and is very excited about what West Sixth does (including environmental efforts, charity and supporting local artisans). He and everyone else at West Sixth were so friendly and knowledgeable. Also, the merchandise that West Sixth sells was so much cheaper than merchandise at other breweries. I got a t-shirt for $10 and my boyfriend got a long sleeve baseball shirt for $15! I highly recommend checking out West Sixth and taking the tour.
Great selection of beer. Good bbq. Friendly people. Seemed like a neighborhood bar on a Thursday night.
My husband and I went to West Sixth Brewing for a tour. We had no idea what we were getting into - even missed the University of Kentucky game to go. We had a blast! Friendly folks and lots of different brews to choose from. The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable! They are really an up and coming company set on helping the environment and local neighborhood! Awesome!
This is a must stop for any craft beer lover. There is plenty of room for friends and walking around the facility. Several great beers on tap with the ability to purchase samples. There is a great seafood restaurant next door and they will bring the order to your table. I can't say enough good things about my time at West 6. Basically, go enjoy, taste a few local beers, grab a shirt. Above else have a DD, don't drink and drive.
West 6th makes great beers, and, as it turns out, their tour is highly enjoyable as well. As someone who has toured MANY breweries throughout the country, I have experienced a wide range of tours and tour guides. One of the things that makes this tour unique is the building West 6th is housed in. We got to see everything from hydroponic lettuce, to fish, to roller derby girls! I'm not kidding! Go... have a beer, and enjoy yourself!
I have never been a beer drinker, but thought it would be fun to take my hubby and friends that do enjoy beer on the West Sixth Tour. Wow! I can not say enough how much we all enjoyed our tour, the tour guide, and most of all every beer we sampled! I have a new appreciation for "good, quality"craft beers! All of the staff are very friendly & outgoing, great atmosphere and a surprise bonus for us, we can bring our 2 schnauzers next visit!! West Sixth converted this gal......my new favorite is the Cocoa Porter!
Easily my favorite micro-brewery that I've been to. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting with space for groups large or small. There are several different beers on tap that change regularly. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Plus you can try samples of the beers before you order. Whenever people are visiting town, this is the one place that we have to go to.
