Unfortunately we had to make this a quick visit while driving across country. We were pleasantly surprised by the grandeur and impressive building. We are glad we made a detour in our trip to see the capitol. The sunny clear day also helped set the building in a beautiful light. Enjoyed. Will return to Lincoln.
I worked in Lincoln from 1989 to 1992 and was in the Capitol many times working or meeting with Senators, but never took the time to view the floors, murals or windows. This time my wife (who had never been inside) and I were just amazed with our guided tour.
Nice place to visit, beautiful art, Historic educational. Love going to the top and looking out over the city.
The Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln is often overlooked as a destination, but it is a true, "Can't Miss" the architecture inside is inspiring, and the observation decks at the top are amazing for young and old.
No state has a unicameral government let alone a capitol building like Nebraska's! It towers tall and stately over the capital city and can be seen for miles before you reach Lincoln. There is wonderful art, statuary, and mosaics to be found around every turn. You can wander and look to your hearts content but the guided tours are very worth the time And Nebraska is extremely proud that this remarkable building was 100% paid for as it was built and not a cent was owed when completed.
The State Capitol is an awesome landmark - if you can spare an extra hour to tour the inside, you will learn about Nebraska history as well as seeing the beautiful marble columns and architecture. Be sure to take the elevators to 14th floor to view Lincoln from the top of the building! Tours are free, happen every hour until 4 PM daily, and the tour guides are very knowledgeable about the history of the building and the history of Nebraska.
Lassos is always one of my very favorite places to go for some of the best food and craft beers in Lincoln. There is never been a time that I've experienced anything less than excellent service.
Try to latch on to a guided tour, but if not just wander around and take in this architectural wonder. One of the most unique buildings in the country. It is definitely worth a couple hours or more. Home of the Unicameral, Nebraska's unique form of government.
That is what it says over the south entrance of the capital building.Very informative and interesting. Enter the building on the main floor and walk to the center (under the tower) of the building where you will find the information desk. They will get you pointed in the right direction.
The capitol is easy to find and the building is beautiful. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. It's the best attraction we've visited in Lincoln.
