Thank you for visiting Grandfather Mountain! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the picnic areas and beautiful views.I want to clarify that while part of the mountain's backcountry is now owned by the state as Grandfather Mountain State Park (and free to visit!), the part you visited is owned and managed by a nonprofit organization, Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation. Proceeds from ticket sales help us to maintain and improve this beautiful area for future generations, so we sincerely appreciate your support.Hope you'll visit again soon!Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
Thank you for visiting Grandfather Mountain. You'll be delighted to know that we now have two new young otters in the habitats — I hope you'll come meet Oscar and Nova soon!Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
Thank you for visiting Grandfather Mountain! Of course, we're a little biased, but we think these are some of the best hiking trails in the Southeast. We hope you'll visit again soon.Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
Thank you for visiting Grandfather Mountain! I'm glad you enjoyed the hiking trails and audio tour. If you can believe it, the "new" Mile High Swinging Bridge, which was rebuilt with galvanized steel, is turning 15 this year!We hope to see you again soon.Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
I'm so sorry you didn't have a good experience during your recent visit; we never want our guests to feel misled about what to expect.During the winter months, we open the Fudge Shop only on weekends because of the decreased traffic. As you noted, our homemade fudge is available for purchase in the restaurant and gift shops, but I apologize that your kids weren't able to go in the shop. The black bears typically retreat to their dens during the coldest months, but you should have been able to see the bald eagles, otters, deer and cougar in their habitats. Like humans, though, they sometimes prefer to be in solitude, so it occasionally requires patience to see all of the animals in their large enclosures.Grandfather Mountain is truly a spectacular place, and I hope you will try us another time to really enjoy the full experience. We would love to show you everything the mountain has to offer.Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
I'm sorry you found the admission price too high. We have been forced to raise prices in the last couple of years due to the rising costs of doing business and changes in state law requiring us to charge tax on admission tickets for the first time in our history. As a nonprofit organization, we receive no taxpayer funding to run the park, so we must rely on ticket and souvenir sales and donations to fund our needs, which are numerous for a park of this size.If you had entered, I think you would have discovered that there's much more to do than just cross the Swinging Bridge. We have Animal Habitats featuring black bears, cougars, otters, deer and bald eagles. We have a Nature Museum displaying a variety of natural history exhibits, including a beautiful selection of gems and minerals and the largest amethyst ever mined in North Carolina. We have spectacular views unlike anything you'll see anywhere else, and our staff is second to none at interpreting this landscape and sharing Grandfather Mountain's hidden treasures.I know that you would find your experience here valuable, and I hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to show you all we have to offer.Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
We're so pleased you enjoyed your Grandfather Mountain visit, and we're especially happy to hear you conquered your fears to cross the Mile High Swinging Bridge. I hope you'll come back again soon!Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
Thank you for stopping at Grandfather Mountain! I'm pleased you enjoyed the mountain views, but I'm sorry you considered the admission fee too high. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on purchases of tickets and souvenirs to sustain and enhance the park. We would love to welcome you back on a warmer, calmer day to really show you everything Grandfather Mountain has to offer — I think you will find the visit a good value when you can take your time and enjoy the park.Sincerely,Kellen ShortPublic Relations Specialist
