The best sunset in Rio and you can go to the watter even at night, but of course, take care. At weekend its too crowd. Melhor por do sol do Rio e a praia a noite é uma delicia.
The rock is prime position you can look to your left see copacabana and sugarloaf. To the right ipanema and the sun going down behind then mountains ..beautiful panoramic views
I have been to Rio a while ago when it was still open to walk there above the rock in the boardwalk and it was one of the best places to see the sunset in Rio. After a few dangerous incidents I was told by locals that it closed and nobody can walk in the boardwalk anymore. Some people try to reach some spots in the stone through Copacabana beach and still sit there to watch the sunset, but for tourists it is no longer ideal since we can not reach it like we used to be able to. The Sunset is still great from the Copacabana side and if you are more adventurous I guess you could try to see it from the stone structure. I hope the boardwalk reopens at some point with structure and safety for tourists to appreciate it again.
Our hotel was across from the porte 5 lifeguard station along Copacabana Beach. It was a pleasant 15/20 minute walk along the beach and a couple of connecting streets to get to Arpoador. There were many vendors and stores along the way. The Arpoador sunset was very nice, as well as the views along Impanema beach and along the direction opposite the Arpoador, where there is a lot more shade while waiting for the sunset.
A huge rock like structure, naturally formed, separates Ipanema from another less known beach. Devil's Beach (Praia do Diabo). So on one side Arpoador, then Devil's Beach and the Copacabana Fort.Water is clear and you can get great view of Ipanema and Leblon from the rock.
When in Rio you have to choose your favourite beach spot and the best way to do that is to check them all. Arpoador is just beautiful and close to the subway. It also great to go there for a night swim during the summer.
The only place where you are going to see people clapping to the sunset. It is truly beautiful and might be a good place to end your jog, or to go and have dinner afterwards
6pm in March, this is the place to be. Grab Biscoito Globo and a caipirinha and watch the sun set. I love this spot. Decent surf for beginners daytimes, too.
you will see many people , you will find near many shops , the end of the day here is FANTASTIC ! WNEN THE SUN DOWN !
We watched the sunset here with some Brazilian friends and caipirinha. The atmosphere was great. An evening to remember!
