First time we visited it felt crowded and rushed so we thought try again. We came back for our second try on a Sunday. The tasting room was still way to crowded to enjoy. More like a factory, heavy sales pressure. The outdoor wine bar is a beautiful setting and the wine was great, tried Doctors Pinot. But the food and service very disappointing. It took so long for the food to come out and our waitress spent the time talking to a another staff person and playing with her hair, how gross. Not sure will try a third time.
I was pleasantly surprised that the owner made an attempt to preserve some of the history and tradition of the Novitiate winery and Jesuit winemakers that originally occupied this location since 1888. This is some of the most important history of the Santa Clara Valley. Hopefully more will be done in the future to highlight this fascinating story there. I found the wine to be good to very good. Most notable is the Pinot. But 'very good' doesn't merit 'very expensive' in my opinion so it hasn't become a regular in my rotation. The grounds are beautiful with the potential of a beautiful picnic spot and small event venue with a little more work. Being a resident of Los Gatos, I'm very glad to have this winery to take visitors to while visiting. Tasting is $10pp which seems a bit steep for this flight. All things considered, don't miss this winery if your in the area!
We attended a family wedding at The Testarossa and found everything to be perfect. The outdoor area was a very pretty location for the ceremony and cocktail. The staff was attentive, the food very good and the wines delicious!I also want to give a shout out to the staff who took the time to locate my vision glasses and sentd them to my so quickly.
While attending a conference in Santa Clara, the awards ceremony was held at the Testarossa Winery. Although we had around 300 people, we were still able to fit. The wine was paired with the catered food and it was all very delicious! The facility itself is beautiful! Since were we there with such a large group at night, we did not have the time to explore all around, but just the entrance itself was amazing. There were these amazing stone steps that lead from the parking area up to the building. The outdoor patio/seating area had gorgeous flowers and fountains. It was beautiful and peaceful. The building itself reminded me of an old castle. I hope to return for pleasure soon!
beautiful hidden gem with great wines! we went there straight off the plane in san jose and were not disappointed!! the grounds are beautiful and such a unique venue. the wines were all fantastic and that is hard to come by. most wineries only have a few or one wine that is worth drinking but we really enjoyed all of them!
We were just in San Jose and had a little time to wait so we chose a couple of things to do. Driving to Los Gatos was a nice drive and a very interesting town not very far. We decided to go to a local Winery for a tasting and stopped at Testarossa Winery. It is a nice drive in a very secluded area however not hard to find. A very impressive location and tasting entrance. The staff was very nice and the wines were good. It cost $10. each unless you purchase wine which was not bad. The people from the local area were very nice and we enjoyed the event. They gave us a wine to taste which we like then said it was not for sale. We ask how much and were again told not for sale. As we left we mentioned it to the a couple of locals and they showed us the bottle they just bought. So it pays to be local.
This winery is a one of my favorite places. here you can see not only the the beautiful setting but also learn about the beginnings of wine making in Los Gatos. The winery is located and also has the old wine cellars of the old Novitiate winery. The wines are very good, a little bit expensive. But the setting and ambiance is a great place to have a picnic or to eat at the restaurant that is located in the winery.
My wife and I were visiting wineries in the area and Testarosa was recommended. From the minute we entered to the moment we left we were treated like VIPs. We were shown to a special tasting room immediately and the server was so friendly even though we were not experts. The wine is really special and if you join the club, you get special pours. I highly recommend stoping by if you are in Los Gatos.
The grounds and outdoor seating are very pretty at the winery. The highlight is entering the tasting room via a cave type entrance. Pretty cool. Once inside though, it's pretty much a corporate winery atmosphere. Wines are well made and I enjoyed them. With some creativity the ambiance could be much better but is just so-so right now.
We visited Testarossa after our friends recommended it. We were very glad we took the time to visit. The receptionist was extremely friendly and walked us to a special tasting room, introducing us to the pour-er. The pour-ers were very knowledgeable, answered all of our many questions, and gave us a history. We were so impressed with the wines that we became members on the spot. After the tasting, we spent a long time lingering over a glass of wine outside by the firepit. All the servers were very attentive. It was a wonderful experience.
