Great zoo for a town like Lufkin its a nice place to take the family or a middle school "date" overall there is a wide variety of animals and they have peacocks roaming everywhere which can be entertaining to watch kids try to chase them around
This is a nice little zoo and a quick pleasant diversion if traveling in the area with kids. There's a cute little train just outside the zoo, but it was under construction when we visited. Should we be in the area again, we hope to give it a try.
This has to be one of the best sights in Lufkin ! Kids absolutely love it and it a nice place to just take a book to read and relax! Any kid at heart wlll ove it and the landscaping is outstanding for a zoo of this size ! Please go !! You will be amazed at the varity of animals and friendliness of zoo keepers
We had a great time at the Ellen Trout Zoo. They have a very good collection and diversity of animals. They had terestial and water exibits of animals, big and small. They had a nice collection of big cats and bears. Their breeding program for peacocks worked overtime as the large birds were walking loose everywhere except the lyons den. The trails were marked well and we got our excercize walking around without repeating anything. Somepeople like to ride the small train around the zoo, but I didnt care to, but its a nice attraction especially for the kids.
Went to the zoo with my small children. Good zoo for a town the size of Lufkin. In some ways, it is better than a big city zoo because children get too tired. Clean and friendly staff. Take the train. Well worth the two bucks. Train construction is finished. Weather is nice this time of year. Do it now before it gets cold.
Very small zoo with lots of construction going on. We could not even see any monkeys since they were blocked off. There were peacocks all over the place way too many for a zoo. There were no signs to direct you of where you were going. Not worth driving 2 hrs for though at all. Also the concession stand and gift shop were closed when we got there and there was still 2 hrs before the zoo closed.
This is a pretty good small town zoo- it takes less than 2 hrs to go through the zoo- a perfect attraction for Texas summer heat! The little ones don't get too tired and there is a nice playground on the grounds of the zoo. The little train ride is only $2 and a nice addition to your visit.
This zoo is perfect for a family and the prices are affordable. It had a lot of different animals and we a nice time. The gift shop was affordable as well, not like most zoos, it had low prices.
you're not gonna find another zoo anywhere that only charges $5/adult.its not too big so you're not exhausted by the time you're done.loved all the peacocks roaming around, that was pretty cool.just wish the gift shop had more stuff.i'll definetly go back.
Very clean zoo. Exhibits well maintained. Not expensive. Train ride for kids is a must. This is a small zoo. Takes about an hour to see all. You dont have to walk for miles to see zoo. Plenty of restrooms and a snack bar and a gift shop.
