Great shows! Actors are talented, storys played just right!Bravo
Went to the Mill Mountain Theater with some friends tonight and had a great time! "The 39 Steps" is based on the Hitchcock classic with a weird, hilarious twist. Four actors play all the characters artfully with very modest props at a quick pace. The result is great silly fun that we all enjoyed and that I would highly recommend. Being from northeast Tennessee, I make the occasional trip to the Barter Theatre and found the performances at Mill Mountain to be not quite comparable, but very creative and very, very good indeed! Check it out for yourself! If you want to save a couples dollars, buy your tickets at the door. The theater is located in the Center on the Square downtown (not on Mill Mountain as I expected) around the corner from the farmer's market stalls. It is a ten minute meandering walk from the Hotel Roanoke.
Very professional executed plays and musicals. We've missed MMT since it closed suddenly a few years ago. But their opening production is a winner. Looking forward to many more productions
Recently visited Mill Mountain Theatre to see "To Kill a Mockingbird". It was a wonderful presentation. I have never been disappointed in this theatre house. If you are in the Roanoke area you should check out what is playing!
We have recently enjoyed a couple of shows in this comfortable and convenient theater. Each time we found ourselves in seats with an excellent view and we suspect, given the layout, that virtually all customers will have excellent views as well. The prices we paid for tickets have been quite reasonable as well, including one out-of-town production that was staged there.
We were lucky and has some time after dinner to go to the show Swing. This is professional musical theatre at it's best. Song and dance without skipping any beats...(humor?). Wonderful voices, excellent choreography, great dancers. I even liked the simple subtle stylish costumes. What can I say the troupe knocked my socks off--better that NYC is so many ways: intimate, reasonable,...local.
With the newly renovated Center in the Square open, Mill Mountain Theater has opened it's doors again to the Trinkle Main Stage and is once again producing professional theater in downtown Roanoke. This month we went with a group of 25 to see the Marvelous Wonderettes. We started the evening at a local eatery by having appetizers and drinks and then walked over to a fun filled evening of a music and comedy. MMT consistently delivers quality theater with a great value. To see what is playing next, checkout their web page: http://millmountain.org/
They've had some the best known plays around, for a little theater. Big name shows, too many to really get into. Have to go see for yourself.
I am a huge supporter of Mill Mountain Theatre. I am a rising senior in high school, and I have been involved with Mill Mountain Theatre for over six years- doing camps, classes, and several of the performances they have done including Annie, Jr. and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. I have worked with other regional theatres in the Roanoke area, but Mill Mountain is far superior to them. Even when the doors were closed Mill Mountain Theatre continued its education programs and had an annual performance during the winter holiday, both of which encouraged the youth to participate. In fact, I believe it has been the the young actors and actresses of the Roanoke valley that have forced the doors at Mill Mountain Theatre back open. The theatre is located in the heart of downtown Roanoke, Center in the Square, and, I believe, is still in the hearts of many a Roanoker. The education programs are superb, the staff is extraordinary, and the performances themselves are of the calibur one would see on a New York City stage. I hope you take the opportunity to visit Mill Mountain Theatre - you won't regret it!
Nothing like getting "Broadway for a bargain"!! Each time I have attended a performance I am always so impressed with the quality of the production. There truly isn't a bad seat in the house... and tickets are more than reasonable.
