It is nice but go there only if you are in the area. The really interesting part is the Verzasca valley.
There aren't that many huge dams to see. Reminiscent of the Hoover Dam, although not quite as much out in the open as the Hoover. Still, some beautiful vistas.
This place is good for about five minutes to take some pictures and if you have the money do the b jumping other than that it is just a five minute stop there's also a tourism info place before you hit the b jumping you stop and ask for info they're very nice.
The dam itself is really impressive to see, at over 200m high. The bungee jump station is not always open, but you can imagine the sensations and emotions if you're brave or crazy enough to take the leap! Well worth the stop and a visit if you're going to the Verzasca valley.
The dam is huge, but it only takes a few minutes to see it. The really interesting part is the Verzasca valley which layes behind the dam. As you drive gently uphill, you pass many of the oldest stone houses (rustico) of this area. They are made of local granite, some are converted in typical grottos where a traveler can taste very local food and vine. Be sure and stop in Verzasca where you will see the old, arched stone bridge and below the pools of turquoise water within unbelievable rock formations. Very lovely indeed, do not miss it.
It's rare to see a dam, and such an impressive one. Came here when it's raining, and almost the beginning of winter. Because of the weather, there wasn't a clear view, but nevertheless, you cant miss the dam. There's a bungee jump there, but it wasn't operating at the time I was there. There's also ample parking at the dam!
It's worth the drive just to take in the scale of this dam which can be seen clearly from the opposite side of Lago Maggiore.
That's a nice place to visit, the entire Valley is simply stunning. You can enjoy a 220 meters bungee if you want, or simply watch the others jumping. It's also pretty interesting to read the technical informations about the dam.Souvenir shop is very nice and prices are pretty good (considering that you're in Switzerland). Summer is the nicest period to visit, but it's super crowded.PAY the parking, everywhere you park in the Valley, as you WILL get a fine if you don't.
What an experience. The team are very professional and friendly. I went with 4 friends (who didn't jump) but were equally amazed by the structure itself. Well worth a trip and the jump was truly epic!!
It's the dam that was used for the bungee jumping scene in James Bond's Golden eye. It's a gorgeous view, and impressive seeing people bungee jump from the dam. Surely it's a fantastic experience, if you're into it, but it wasn't for me. Nonetheless it's beautiful to visit, if you're in the area!
