It is a small red barn type building with bouys on it. There were so many party yachts parked around it I couldn't get a pic of it without any drunkards handing around it. Nothing special but a landmark anyhow.
This is a quaint, beautiful building that you will probably recognize from paintings and photos. You can view it easily front he town pier.
You can't come to Rockport and not photograph the famous Motif #1. Walk over and read its history on the side of the building.
Couldn't take enough pictures of this place. It's beautiful and quiet, especially in the early morning hours. Not only did we find the Motiff a great building to shot, there were lot's of boats and plenty of seagulls and loons.
The view was breathtaking….so New England with boats docked and the red "barn"/boat house. Very peaceful looking.
This old fishing storage building is an iconic symbol of Rockport. It is lovely in its timeless practicality.
No dislikes. An interesting and famous building in Rockportthat at one time (and maybe still is) used for storage for thelobstermens' traps.
Even locals like to photography Motif Number 1. I agree with others - early in the morning or at sunset is best. The lighting is just right and crows are low. I also encourage visiting in the winter. The brilliant blue of the water contrasted against white show and blue sky makes for an amazing photo opportunity. However, if you are from out of town, make sure to note the limited parking. Most of the parking closest to the Motif requires a special resident permit. Park up in the town and walk to avoid ticketing and/or towing. (I've seen it happen a couple of times.)
Rockport is a beautiful quiet little fishing village on the coast of Massachusetts. It is an absolute must see if you are in the neighborhood. Motif 1 creates such a picturesque harbor view that most visitors just sit down and watch it all. If you want some peace and quiet, visit Rockport. and Motif 1. Many movies were shot here... and it is for a reason.
When we are in gloucester we always make a stop in rockport. When we are in rockport, we always stop and admire this landmark. A must see if you are in the area!
